Full Time, 5:45AM-1:45PM (35 hrs. per week)
OVERVIEW OF PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES
: The Guidance Center of Westchester's Medication Assisted Opioid Treatment Program (METRO) supports adults who have a history of and/or current active substance use inclusive of opiates. Many program participants also have co-occurring mental health needs. The team consists of multidisciplinary staff including a medical director, psychiatry providers, nurses, substance use counselors, and psychotherapists. The RN works with the Program Director and Medical Director to ensure that medication management/dosing, health assessments, as well as all physical/health services occur in accordance with best practices for patient care according to all pertinent regulations by OASAS, SAMHSA, Joint Commission, and the Department of Health
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
: Observes patient for medication safety prior to and after medication administration
  • Reviews and implements medication orders and seeks clarification as needed form the Medical Director
  • Reports any adverse effects to Medical Director and initiate 911 protocol
  • Reports any medication errors to Medical and Program Director Maintains security and safety of medication area/nursing unit
  • Assists with review of lab letters as per MD orders
  • Conducts dose verifications with patients admitted to another facility, detox hospitalization, extended medical care and incarceration. Coordinates guest dosing and related administrative tasks Serves as Healthcare Coordinator and Infection Control/ Prevention Coordinator
  • leads health education/care efforts as well as efforts to adhere to the recommended mandates to decrease the spread of infection Provides NARCAN training as well as health and nutrition education to staff and patients Provides supervision of LPN/RN staff, monitoring schedules, providing coverage in case of staff absence, reviewing/approving timesheets, and conducting annual performance evaluations.
Updates and maintains Lighthouse data and information weekly. Assists with maintaining the daily work process of the clinic
  • Assists in multidisciplinary decisions when necessary Meets with patients who are pregnant or have become pregnant during attendance to the treatment program
  • Participates in Policy and Procedure review annually and as needed
  • Participate in case conferences, multidisciplinary and incident review meetings. Participates in ongoing educational trainings and seminars
SKILLS:
Able to make decisions pertaining to medication administration and patient safety. Able to work in a fast paced environment and have the ability to multi-task. Able to think critically and problem-solve
  • Pays close attention to detail Excellent verbal and written communication skills
QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES
: Two years of recent and direct experience in behavioral health (Methadone maintenance, addiction, or other Opioid treatment) preferred Familiarity with Joint Commission, OASAS, DEA, DOH, and OSHA standards Must successfully pass Criminal Background Checks and NYS Justice Center Registry. Clearance and fingerprinting will be done prior to employment
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
: Valid RN license in state of NY
  • Current BLS CPR certification
