Road Crew

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES/POSITION SUMMARY

This is a skilled maintenance position with the Township. The employee performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled road and street related duties requiring strenuous physical effort and occasional exposure to inclement working conditions.

MAJOR RESPONIBILITIES AND DUTIES 1.

Operate heavy equipment such as front end loader, backhoe, grader, etc 2. General township property and road maintenance and repair including, but no limited to: Road paving, patching and crack sealing 3. Installation of storm water systems. 4. Cleaning and repairing of storm water inlets and pipes. 5. Installation and repair of street signs. 7. Remove trees and/or branches from roadways. 8. Assist in traffic control as needed. 9. General cleaning and washing of vehicles and equipment. 10. General clean-up of garage. 11. Move heavy boxes or equipment and large bulky objects. 12. Snow and Ice Control 13. Mow assigned areas such as along roads, open spaces and right-of-ways. 14. Perform other tasks as assigned by immediate supervisor.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 1.

Knowledge of and experience in using a variety of hand and power tools including, but not limited to: mowers, saws, trimmers, etc. 2. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. 3. Ability to work independently without constant supervision. 4. Ability to perform heavy manual labor for prolonged periods, often under adverse climatic conditions. 5. Ability to respond to call out at any hour of any day or night. 6. Ability to operate vehicles and equipment in a safe manner. 7. Ability to walk, lift and bend while carrying heavy objects.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 1.

High school diploma or equivalent. 2. Must hold a Class PA Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with A being preferred.

Pay:

$24.70 - $29.06 per hour
