This is a full-time, year-round position, based in Tok, Alaska. The schedule for this position is 5 days on, 2 days off.
Job Title:
Road Maintenance Supervisor Responsibilities:
Provide daily field supervision and ownership of road maintenance and SWPPP execution for the Manh Choh access road, laydown yard, ore loadout support areas, drainage systems, and related infrastructure. Monitor and assess road conditions throughout the shift, including surface integrity, drainage flow, traction, berms, and safe travel conditions. Prioritize, coordinate, and direct road maintenance, drainage, erosion-control, and repair activities based on safety, environmental, weather, and operational needs. Supervise and coordinate operators, laborers, equipment, and material resources to complete grading, compaction, ditching, excavation, culvert maintenance, sediment control, and related field work. Ensure BMPs, drainage controls, and SWPPP-related systems are properly maintained, functional, and adjusted to changing field conditions. Monitor and respond to changing Alaska field conditions, including rain, snowmelt, breakup, freeze-thaw cycles, and other environmental impacts affecting road conditions and drainage. Coordinate with operations, dispatch, maintenance, environmental personnel, and client representatives to support safe and efficient haul operations and field activities. Identify, address, and escalate road, environmental, equipment, traffic, and MSHA compliance hazards as needed. Maintain accurate documentation of completed work, equipment usage, material placement, field conditions, inspections, and follow-up needs. Reinforce safety expectations, PPE requirements, traffic awareness, and accountability while maintaining effective shift handoff communication between crews. Other duties as assigned.Required Skills/Abilities:
Proven ability to lead field crews and enforce safety, operational, and performance standards in heavy industrial, mining, construction, or trucking environments. Strong knowledge of haul road maintenance, grading, drainage, compaction, material placement, and related field operations. Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and communication skills in fast-paced environments with changing field conditions and priorities. Ability to identify hazards, enforce safe work practices, and maintain compliance with safety and environmental requirements. Ability to work outdoors in extreme Alaska conditions around heavy equipment, haul traffic, and rugged terrain. Ability to document field activities using mobile devices and basic computer systems. Ability to perform the physical demands of the position, including frequent standing, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds.Experience/Qualifications:
Strong background in heavy civil, road maintenance, mining, trucking, construction, or industrial field operations required. Prior supervisory experience leading operators, laborers, or road maintenance crews preferred. Experience with heavy equipment and haul road maintenance operations, including graders, loaders, compactors, water trucks, and excavators preferred. Experience with MSHA, SWPPP, erosion control, stormwater management, or BMP maintenance preferred. Familiarity with Alaska field conditions, including breakup, freeze-thaw cycles, remote access roads, and active haul operations preferred. Valid driver's license required; Class A CDL preferred but not requiredBenefits:
