Duties Help Inspect or survey workplaces, processes or products for compliance with established safety and occupional health policies or standards. Assist in the evaluion of work operions to quantify hazardous exposures using methods such as collecting noise da, air samples and ventilion measurements. Assist in the design or modificion of workplaces, processes or products to control or elimine hazards. Assist in the development of safety and occupional health standards to reduce the frequency, severity and cost of accidents and occupional illnesses. Assist in the training of workers, supervisors, managers, or other safety and occupional health personnel in safety or occupional health subjects. Qualificions Who May Apply:

Specialized Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes: assisting in managing safety or occupional health program elements; or, applying safety and occupional health standards, regulions, practices, and procedures to elimine or control potential hazards; or, assisting in analyzing or evaluing new and existing jobs, processes, products, or other systems to determine the existence, severity, probability, and outcome of hazards; or, assisting in designing or modifying workplaces, processes, products, or other systems to control or elimine hazards. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
OR Educion:
One full year (or will have completed one full year by June 2026) of gradue level educion with a major study in safety or occupional health fields (safety, occupional health, industrial hygiene).
OR Superior Academic Achievement:
Successful completion (or completion no ler than June 2026) of all the requirements for a bachelor's degree with a major study in safety or occupional health fields (safety, occupional health, industrial hygiene) OR degree in other reled fields th included or was supplemented by least 24 semester hours of study from among the following (or closely reled) disciplines: safety, occupional health, industrial hygiene, occupional medicine, toxicology, public health, mhemics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology with Superior Academic Achievement. In order to be creditable under this provision, Superior Academic Achievement must have been gained in a curriculum th is qualifying for the position to be filled. Superior Academic Achievement is based on: (1) Class Standing
  • Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduing class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administrion, based on completed courses; OR (2) Grade-Point Average (G.P.A.)
