Job Description

Job Summary The Safety Coordinator ensures a safe and healthy workplace by implementing safety policies, conducting audits, providing training, tracking data and ensuring compliance with federal (OSHA) and state regulations. Work in various areas of the company to minimize workplace accidents and injuries. Assist Safety Manager's with any projects or duties as assigned.
Essential Functions Compliance & Inspections:
Assist in conducting job-site safety audits, inspections, and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) checks to ensure adherence to OSHA and company standards.
Training:
Develop and conduct safety training sessions, including new employee orientation, on-site safety meetings, and "toolbox talks".
Incident Management:
Investigate accidents, near misses, and injuries, identifying root causes, reporting on findings, and recommending preventive actions.
Documentation:
Maintain comprehensive records of inspections, training, teammate records, incidents, and hazardous materials (SDS/Safety Data Sheets).
Emergency Response:
Coordinate emergency procedures, evacuation plans, and drills.
Equipment Management:
Source, maintain inventory, distribute, and inspect safety gear and equipment for teammates.
Support:
Assist in creating and implementing safety policies & procedures while ensuring that they are being followed daily. Attend safety walkthrough meetings before or during each project to analyze safety risks. Provide recommendations for improving safety in the workplace. Perform other duties as assigned. Act as a liaison between management and field leaders and teammates.
Competencies or Experience Requirements Experience:
1-3 years of experience in a safety-related role, particularly in a construction environment. Valid Ohio Drivers License.
Certifications:
OSHA 10-hour, 30-hour card preferred; specialized certifications like CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician) are preferred.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and safety management software (e.g., ISNetworld).
Soft Skills:
Strong communication, training abilities, leadership skills, and attention to detail. Understanding of federal, state and city safety requirements, including OSHA. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time while meeting deadlines. Interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective professional relationships with teammates and project managers. Typical Physical Demands Ability to walk, climb, sit, and stand for extended periods. Ability to navigate varied terrain and work in different weather conditions. Occasionally exposed to hazardous conditions, loud noises, and, rarely, toxic chemicals. Education Requirements High School diploma required. Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, engineering, or a related field, or an associate degree with relevant experience preferred. Safety Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Manual of Safety Practices and Procedures. Travel Travel to job sites may be required as needed.
