Overview This full-time, year-round position provides leadership and accountability across three interconnected domains: team member safety and
MIOSHA/OSHA
compliance, guest risk management, and resort security operations. The Safety Manager is responsible for building and sustaining a proactive safety culture throughout the resort, ensuring regulatory compliance, protecting guests and team members from harm, and maintaining a secure environment across all facilities and grounds. - Team Member Safety & OSHA/MIOSHA Compliance (including but not limited to) Conduct routine inspections of all facilities and outlets with applicable department managers to educate staff and ensure compliance with company safety standards and MIOSHA regulations.

Log in compliance with recordkeeping standards; manage all associated OSHA reporting obligations. Ensure mandatory MIOSHA notices and posters are properly displayed at all required workstations; coordinate corrective action on identified deficiencies in a timely manner. Assist Human Resources with the planning, delivery, and review of all safety training programs, policies, and procedures. Assist the corporate risk management team with workers' compensation claims, including investigation support and return-to-work coordination. Foster a caring safety culture throughout the resort with the goal of zero work-related injuries. Essential Job Functions- Guest Risk Management (including but not limited to)
Note:
On-mountain trail and ski/snowboard area safety is the responsibility of Ski Patrol. The Safety Manager coordinates with Ski Patrol leadership on matters that intersect with facility safety, guest incident documentation, and overall resort risk exposure. Oversee guest incident and accident investigation across all resort facilities, excluding on-mountain trail areas managed by Ski Patrol; ensure timely, thorough documentation and reporting. Identify, assess, and mitigate guest safety hazards across resort buildings, parking areas, base lodges, rental and retail spaces, food & beverage outlets, recreational amenities, and other guest-facing areas. Develop and enforce guest-facing hazard prevention programs including slip/trip/fall prevention, wet floor protocols, signage standards, and seasonal hazard management. Ensure all guest safety signage, barriers, and area markings throughout resort facilities and grounds meet applicable standards and are maintained year-round. Serve as the resort's primary point of contact for general liability claims; coordinate with the corporate risk management team and legal counsel as required. Assist the corporate risk management team with general liability claim investigation, evidence preservation, and incident documentation. Coordinate with department leaders to conduct pre-season and ongoing safety walk-throughs of all guest-accessible areas; document findings and drive timely corrective action. Maintain records of guest incidents and near-misses; analyze trends to proactively identify and address recurring risk areas. Collaborate with V.P. of Mountain Experience on resort-wide risk management initiatives and capital safety improvements. Essential Job Functions- Resort Security Provide operational leadership and direction to the resort security team; establish standards for patrol coverage, post assignments, and shift operations across all seasons.
- Supervisory Provide direct oversight of the safety team; up to 10 or more team members depending on season.

OSHA/MIOSHA
compliance programs preferred. Experience in a resort, hospitality, or high-traffic public environment preferred. Certificates, Licenses & Registrations Valid Driver's License with ability to pass motor vehicle records check. Current CPR/AED certification. First Aid certification, or higher. Challenge OEC course required within one year of hire. Safety certification preferred (STS, ASP, CSP, or equivalent through BCSP or similar credentialing body). Other Requirements Proficient with computers including Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn additional technology platforms. Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English); ability to produce clear incident reports, policies, and safety documentation. Passionate about safety, hospitality, and the outdoor/winter sports environment. Able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and occasional overnight shifts, with hours varying by season.Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience Associate degree or higher in Safety Management, Emergency Management, Criminal Justice, or a related field, plus a minimum of 3 years of experience in safety, security, risk management, or emergency services; OR a minimum of 5 years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At least 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience. Demonstrated experience managingOSHA/MIOSHA
