Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Safety Manager to join our team. The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, organizing, and administering the company's safety program, which aims to reduce risks and the number and severity of accidents and injuries, while maintaining the efficiency of the operation and the well-being of its employees in accordance with all government regulations and company policies and procedures. Provide training to staff in a variety of areas, including
EHS, OSHA
compliance, and environmental protection. Responsibilities Administers and integrates Safety and Risk Management system to minimize the number and severity of in-plant accidents and injuries. Responsible for implementation of strategies to effectively reduce and sustain a low-risk environment throughout the company. Ensures that the plant is inspected for any conditions that pose potential safety problems. Ensures that corrective action is initiated by the supervisor responsible for the area, and provides assistance as needed to establish priorities and procedures. Helps maintain a system for reporting, monitoring, and correcting serious safety problems. Participates with representatives of OSHA, EPA, DNR, and any other state, federal or local entity and the plant safety department during formal inspections of plant and assists in issuing a report to the monitoring agency to formally document corrective actions taken. Oversees maintenance of a complete and accurate SDS file for ready access. Trains, counsels, and advises personnel on all safety issues through management EHS bulletins, safety newsletters, memos, and meetings to establish a proactive approach to providing a safe working environment. Monitors and controls industrial hygiene, which relates to the long-term effects of factors, such as chemical and lead exposure, noise, lighting, heat, humidity, and radiation. Assists in maintaining environmental safety and compliance. Administer training related to safety, OSHA compliance, and environmental protection. Responsible for reducing company Workers Comp. costs. Other responsibilities and/or duties, as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in safety engineering, industrial technology, or related field, preferred. Safety and/or Environmental Health experience is required. Three or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience in professional business training. Excellent communication skills to achieve worker and management cooperation and acceptance of changes in methods and procedures. Knowledge and experience in manufacturing facilities.
