Job Description

Safety Manager - Sign Manufacturing Position Summary Responsible for developing, implementing, and enforcing all safety programs across manufacturing, installation, and facility operations. Ensures OSHA compliance, reduces workplace incidents, and builds a proactive safety culture across production and field teams. Core Responsibilities Safety Program Management Develop and maintain company-wide safety policies and procedures Lead safety strategy across manufacturing, installation, and transportation Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and local/state regulations Maintain SDS program, hazard communication, and documentation systems Training & Culture Conduct new hire safety onboarding and ongoing training programs Lead regular safety meetings, toolbox talks, and refreshers Build a culture of accountability and awareness across all departments Partner with leadership to reinforce safety expectations Risk Management & Prevention Perform routine facility inspections and job site audits Identify hazards and implement corrective/preventative actions Lead Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) for production and install activities Monitor PPE usage and enforce compliance Incident Management Investigate accidents, near-misses, and injuries Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions Maintain OSHA logs and reporting requirements Track and report safety metrics (TRIR, DART, etc.) Field & Installation Safety Oversee safety practices for sign installation crews Ensure compliance with fall protection, lift equipment, and rigging standards Audit job sites for safe work practices and proper setup Equipment & Facility Safety Ensure proper use and maintenance of machinery (CNCs, welders, lifts, etc.) Partner with maintenance on lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures Monitor facility conditions (ventilation, electrical, fire prevention) Compliance & Audits Prepare for and manage OSHA inspections Maintain required records, certifications, and reporting Lead internal safety audits and continuous improvement initiatives Key Metrics (KPIs) Reduction in recordable incidents (TRIR) Near-miss reporting frequency Safety training completion rates OSHA compliance audit scores Workers compensation cost trends Qualifications Required 5+ years in safety management (manufacturing, construction, or industrial) Strong knowledge of OSHA standards Experience with incident investigation and reporting Ability to lead training and influence behavior across teams Preferred Experience in sign manufacturing, fabrication, or installation OSHA 30 (or higher certification) First Aid / CPR certified CSP, ASP, or CHST certification Skills Strong leadership and accountability mindset High attention to detail and risk awareness Clear communication across shop and field teams Problem-solving and root cause analysis Ability to enforce standards without damaging culture Work Environment Split between office, manufacturing floor, and field job sites Exposure to fabrication equipment, heights, and outdoor conditions Requires active presence in production and installation environments Compensation $75,000 annual salary
