Analytics Full Job Description Position Summary:
We're looking for a driven Commercial Account Manager to grow and manage a book of shipper relationships for Blackrock Logistics freight brokerage. You'll be the primary point of contact for assigned accounts — understanding their shipping needs, securing competitive capacity, resolving issues in real time, and identifying opportunities to expand volume and lane coverage. This is a high-visibility role that blends relationship management, negotiation, and operational problem-solving in a fast-paced logistics environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Own and grow a portfolio of shipper accounts, serving as the primary point of contact for day-to-day service and strategic planning Build pricing strategies and rate proposals in coordination with carrier sales and pricing teams Negotiate rates and contracts with shippers to protect margin while remaining competitive Partner with the carrier/capacity team to ensure reliable coverage on customer lanes, especially during volume spikes or capacity crunches Monitor shipment performance (on-time pickup/delivery, tracking, documentation) and proactively resolve service issues Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities within existing accounts (new lanes, modes, services) Prepare and present quarterly business reviews (QBRs) with account performance data, market insights, and growth plans Track account activity, opportunities, and communication in the CRM/TMS Stay current on freight market trends, capacity conditions, and fuel/rate fluctuations to advise customers effectively Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, pricing, carrier sales, and billing to ensure smooth execution
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in freight brokerage, third-party logistics (3PL), or transportation account management Working knowledge of truckload, LTL, and/or intermodal freight operations Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills with a track record of retaining and growing accounts Comfort working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with shifting priorities Experience with a TMS (e.g., McLeod, Revenova, Aljex) and CRM platforms Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong analytical skills — comfortable reading rate data, margin reports, and performance metrics Bachelor's degree in supply chain, logistics, business, or related field preferred (or equivalent industry experience)
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Existing book of shipper relationships or industry contacts Experience with spot and contract freight pricing Familiarity with EDI/API-based load tendering Prior experience in a brokerage sales
