Pleasant, we are regarded as one of Michigan's largest and most progressive multi-state insurance agencies. We specialize in oil & gas insurance, public & charter school insurance, healthcare and other "tough to find" commercial insurance coverages. We are an agency with a commitment to risk management and clients that range from manufacturers to restaurant/real estate chains, oil & gas exploration companies, convenience store chain owner/operators, long haul trucking companies and financial lending institutions. General Agency Company also provides a full line of personal insurance products - homeowners, renters, automobile, personal umbrella, life and disability insurance.
Personal Lines Account Executive Position Summary:
The Personal Lines Account Executive is responsible for managing and servicing a portfolio of personal insurance accounts while delivering a high level of client satisfaction and retention. This role serves as a key liaison between the agency, carrier partners, and insured clients by providing consultative guidance, securing appropriate coverage solutions, and identifying opportunities for cross-selling and account rounding.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and service an assigned personal lines book of business, ensuring timely and accurate policy administration. Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, carrier partners, and internal agency team members. Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and personalized service. Review client insurance programs and provide recommendations to address coverage gaps, exposures, and changing insurance needs. Market, quote, rate, bind, and issue new and renewal business while exercising independent judgment and decision-making. Evaluate renewal accounts and identify opportunities for remarketing, carrier placement alternatives, and coverage enhancements. Support account rounding initiatives by identifying and recommending additional products and services that meet client needs. Negotiate with insurance carriers to secure competitive coverage terms, pricing, and policy solutions. Maintain and exceed retention objectives through proactive account management and client advocacy. Accurately document client interactions, policy activity, and account information within the agency management system. Stay current on carrier guidelines, underwriting requirements, industry trends, and regulatory changes. Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
Active Michigan Property & Casualty License or the ability to obtain within 90 days of employment. Michigan Life & Health License or willingness to obtain within one year of employment. Minimum of 3 years of personal lines insurance experience in an independent agency, brokerage, or carrier environment. Strong knowledge of personal lines insurance products, coverages, and underwriting practices. Ability to independently manage quoting, rating, binding, and policy servicing activities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and standard business applications. Experience with Applied Epic or other agency management systems. High level of professionalism, attention to detail, and commitment to client service. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Mathematical aptitude and comfort working with insurance rating and premium calculations. Ability to pass a criminal background check, as permitted by law.
