Changing Lives. Under the supervision of the Homeless Services Worker Supervisor, the HSW Night Lead oversees staff, volunteers, and service delivery at the 40 Prado Shelter. This role includes training and supporting staff in providing direct services—such as assessments, referrals, supply distribution, and client supervision—to individuals and families experiencing homelessness. The Night Lead coordinates with service providers and emergency personnel, manages bed inventory through CES, updates HMIS, and facilitates Night-by-Night bed assignments via lottery. The position supports CAPSLO's mission by fostering a safe, compassionate, and empowering environment for clients.
Qualifications:
Minimum one year experience providing direct human or health services to the economically disadvantaged, physically/mentally disabled, substance abuse/dual diagnosed individuals, the elderly, and/or at risk youth. Education, volunteer experience and/or other related experience may be accepted. Valid Driver's License, acceptable driving record, and auto insurance.
Preferred:
Two or more years of experience providing direct human or health services to the economically disadvantaged, physically/mentally disabled, substance abuse/dual diagnosed individuals, the elderly, and/or at risk youth. Education, volunteer experience and/or other related experience may be accepted.
Preferred:
Experience in a supervisory, managerial, or lead role. As the Homeless Services Worker Night Lead you will: Supervises HSW staff, volunteers, and shelter participants; provides hiring support, orientation, training, scheduling, zone assignments, and performance oversight. Ensures accurate timekeeping in Dayforce and reviews staff documentation for errors. Maintains safety and security at 40 Prado. Uses conflict resolution and crisis management to support clients and staff. Oversees documentation including logs, warnings, incident reports, CWS reports, and clerical tasks; corrects staff paperwork. Manages housekeeping and maintenance issues; ensures cleanliness and safety. Supports Morro Bay warming center and monitors program supply levels, notifying appropriate staff for orders. Oversees Night-by-Night bed lottery and manages shelter bed inventory via CES and HMIS. Coordinates with internal/external providers for seamless client services. Acts as decision-maker in Supervisor's absence; responds to staff after hours and covers shifts as needed. Provides weekly client progress reports and follows safety protocols. Performs other duties as assigned.
