Job Description

Equipment Manager Leadership & Strategy Develop and implement equipment management strategies to support company goals Lead and manage equipment maintenance and repair teams Build scalable systems and processes to strengthen accountability and operational consistency across divisions Within the first 90 days, assess current equipment management processes and present a prioritized improvement plan for leadership review Operational Efficiency & Process Improvement Manage a fleet of heavy civil and marine equipment assets (e.g., cranes, excavators, barges, trucks, support vehicles, etc.) Coordinate equipment mobilization Own and maintain the preventive maintenance tracking system, ensuring all inspections, services, and certifications are up to date Optimize equipment utilization and productivity Implement efficient maintenance and repair processes Balance hands-on leadership with strategic oversight in a lean, fast-moving environment Financial Management & Risk Assessment Manage equipment needs, rentals, budgets and financial forecasts Identify, communicate, and mitigate equipment-related risks Culture & Talent Development Foster a culture of safety and equipment maintenance excellence Maintain a positive, professional, and respectful attitude in all interactions to foster a productive and collaborative work environment External Relations & Representation Collaborate with external partners and vendors on equipment-related matters Technology & Innovation Stay up to date with industry developments and best practices in equipment management Review, research, and identify new technologies and innovations to improve equipment efficiency and productivity Compliance & Day-to-Day Operations Ensure compliance with company and industry equipment safety standards Manage day-to-day equipment operations, including maintenance scheduling and logistics Assess fleet equipment for potential sale and oversee the process once approved Research and determine equipment needs. Oversee the inspection, purchase, and delivery process, once approved Oversee and coordinate regular equipment inspections, encompassing both existing assets and potential acquisitions, with a particular emphasis on evaluating previously owned equipment for purchase Willingness to travel to construction sites (may require frequent site visits) Other duties as assigned Monitoring & Review Review and analyze equipment-related data and metrics to inform decision-making Review and analyze equipment utilization, maintenance and repair costs to assist management with forecasting replacement life cycles Establish and track key performance indicators (e.g., utilization %, downtime %, repair cost per hour, and maintenance compliance rates) to support proactive management and forecasting Monitor equipment performance, utilization, and costs to inform decision-making.
Requirements/Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in construction management, including 2-5 years in a leadership role OSHA 30 preferred Experience in the construction industry, preferably with a contractor or equipment rental company Proven track record of effective equipment management, including cost control and optimization Strong knowledge of heavy equipment operations, maintenance, and repair Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills Ability to analyze equipment data and make informed decisions Familiarity with equipment management software and technology preferred Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to work effectively in a team environment Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Commitment to safety protocols and best practices High school diploma or equivalent
Salary/Benefits:
  • Annual Salary based on experience and performance, $85,000-$115,000

$85,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
