Job Description

We are currently seeking an experienced Automation Account Manager to join our team in Traverse City, MI. This position plays a key role in driving sales growth, managing customer relationships, coordinating service work, and identifying new business opportunities within the automation industry. Position Summary The Automation Account Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining customer relationships, identifying and pursuing sales opportunities, coordinating project and service work, and ensuring customer satisfaction from initial proposal through project completion and billing. This role combines technical automation knowledge with strong sales and project coordination skills. Responsibilities Develop and maintain relationships with current and prospective customers Identify new business opportunities for automation and electrical services Prepare proposals, estimates, and technical presentations Coordinate pricing, scheduling, and service work with internal teams Work closely with field operations, service technicians, purchasing, and accounting Monitor project costs, profitability, and customer satisfaction Recommend automation solutions that improve customer productivity and efficiency Assist with sales strategies, marketing initiatives, and business development efforts Maintain accurate documentation, quotes, reports, and customer records Attend customer meetings, trade shows, and networking events as needed Support cross-selling efforts for additional company services Ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and professionally Qualifications Required High school diploma or GED Minimum 5 years of experience in the automation industry Strong understanding of: Electrical construction Automation control circuits Electrical design and National Electrical Code (NEC) Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities Valid driver's license and ability to travel to customer sites Preferred Master Electrician License Professional Engineer (PE) License or Engineering Degree Estimating experience for automation projects Experience with technical sales and account management Skills & Abilities Strong technical and problem-solving skills Ability to build and maintain customer relationships Financial and project management understanding Ability to present technical solutions to customers Strong leadership and teamwork abilities Experience managing job costing, labor, materials, and subcontractors Work Environment This position works in both office and field environments, including customer and construction sites. Travel to customer locations is required.
