This role focuses on generating new trucking accounts, building relationships with fleet owners, and identifying competitive insurance markets tailored to each client's risk profile. The ideal candidate understands the trucking industry, thrives in a commission-based environment, and is capable of both selling accounts and structuring them to win with underwriters . Key ResponsibilitiesSales & Business Development Prospect and generate new commercial trucking clients (owner-operators to large fleets) Build and maintain a strong pipeline through cold calling, referrals, yard visits, and networking Develop relationships with trucking companies in Laredo and surrounding markets Present insurance solutions including Auto Liability, Cargo, Physical Damage, and General Liability Close new business and consistently meet or exceed sales targets Market Placement & Strategy Identify and access appropriate insurance markets (MGAs, carriers, wholesalers) Structure submissions to improve acceptance rates for difficult risks (loss-heavy, new ventures, cross-border) Negotiate pricing, terms, and coverage with underwriters Stay updated on market trends, appetite changes, and carrier guidelines Client Management Act as primary point of contact for new clients during onboarding Gather required documentation (loss runs, driver lists, IFTA, equipment schedules) Educate clients on coverage, risk management, and compliance requirements Support renewals and remarketing strategies for retained accounts Industry Expertise Understand DOT regulations, safety scores (SMS), and compliance requirements Analyze risk factors including driver history, routes, commodities, and operations Provide basic consulting to clients on improving insurability and reducing premiums QualificationsRequired 1-3+ years of sales experience (insurance or trucking preferred) Strong understanding of the trucking industry OR willingness to learn quickly Excellent communication and negotiation skills Self-motivated with a strong entrepreneurial mindset Ability to work independently and manage a sales pipeline Preferred Experience in commercial trucking insurance Existing relationships with trucking companies or owner-operators Knowledge of MGAs and specialty trucking markets Texas General Lines Property & Casualty License (or willingness to obtain within 30-60 days) Compensation Structure Commission-Based Position 40% commission on new business generated 20% commission on agency-provided leads Renewal commissions (reduced percentage structure) Unlimited earning potential based on performance Bonuses for high production and key account acquisition Work Environment Remote flexibility with local travel in Laredo and South Texas Weekly sales meetings and performance reviews Occasional in-person client visits, networking events, and industry meetings What We Offer Access to competitive trucking insurance markets (standard + non-standard) Internal support for quoting, servicing, and underwriting submissions Growth opportunity into senior producer or leadership roles Hands-on training in trucking risk analysis and market placement Ability to build a personal book of business Ideal Candidate Profile Hustler mentality with strong closing ability Comfortable working with trucking clients face-to-face (yards, dispatch offices) Strategic thinker who can "sell the risk" to underwriters Driven to build a long-term book of business and maximize commissions
