Do you have strong editing skills and an eye for graphic design? Are you a self-starter who can work independently and remotely? Do you enjoy creating clear, engaging content and keeping projects organized? The Office of Student Enrollment and Account Management (SEAM) is seeking a Communications Assistant to work closely with the Strategic Communications Manager to help promote our office and its services within the JHU community. SEAM is a centralized student services organization that supports students in the areas of financial aid, registration, and student accounts. This position offers opportunities to build experience in communications, digital content management, web publishing, graphic design, and project coordination. Specific Duties & Responsibilities Internal Communications Assist with drafting, editing, and scheduling the monthly SEAM staff newsletter and employee communications. Incorporate feedback from stakeholders and revise newsletter content for clarity, accuracy, and engagement. Develop and implement ideas and content for employee engagement initiatives. Website Maintain and update SEAM websites, including content edits, document updates, quality assurance reviews, and accessibility checks. Monitor websites for broken links, formatting issues, and opportunities to improve content and user experience. Gather and analyze website data and prepare reports and recommendations based on the findings. Editing & Graphic Support Draft, edit, proofread, and format content for e-newsletters, the website, presentations, signage, and other communications materials. Design printed and digital materials, including flyers, signage, and presentations Event Support & Office Coordination Assist with event communications, volunteer sign-ups, and outreach materials Maintain event tracking spreadsheets and communications planning documents Support special projects and communications campaigns as needed. Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and organizational skills. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently with minimal supervision. Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications. Ability to implement principles of design, layout, and brand identity. Commitment to collaboration, quality, and cultural responsiveness. Previous work experience in communications, marketing, writing, or graphic design. Proficiency in graphic design tools (examples include Adobe InDesign, Canva). Proficiency in website management tools (examples include WordPress, Drupal). Familiarity with data analytics tools (examples include Siteimprove, GA4). Basic video editing skills. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or graduation equivalent. Two years of related work experience. Additional education may substitute for required experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
