Job Description
The Senior Account Manager is responsible for developing new business, growing existing customer relationships, and serving as the strategic advisor for assigned accounts. Unlike the traditional cradle-to-grave model, this role is not responsible for daily carrier procurement or shipment execution. Operational execution is performed by the Carrier Operations Team, allowing the Senior Account Manager to focus on revenue growth, customer retention, and strategic account management. The Senior Account Manager owns the customer relationship from prospecting through long-term account development. Primary Responsibilities Business Development Identify and pursue new sales opportunities through prospecting, referrals, and networking. Develop and execute strategic sales plans. Generate new customer relationships that align with company objectives. Negotiate customer pricing and service agreements. Account Management Serve as the primary relationship owner for assigned customers. Conduct regular business reviews. Understand customer supply chain challenges and recommend transportation solutions. Increase customer share-of-wallet through strategic growth initiatives. Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction. Revenue Growth Grow revenue within existing accounts. Identify cross-selling and upselling opportunities. Collaborate with Carrier Operations to ensure customer expectations are consistently met. Maintain pricing strategies that support company profitability. Customer Advocacy Represent the voice of the customer internally. Escalate operational issues when necessary. Partner with Carrier Operations to resolve service challenges. Maintain proactive communication regarding customer priorities. Collaboration Work closely with Carrier Operations, Operations Support, and Leadership. Provide complete and accurate shipment requirements. Participate in account planning and customer strategy sessions. Foster a collaborative, team-first environment. CRM & Sales Management Maintain accurate customer records. Document sales activity and opportunities. Maintain a healthy sales pipeline. Forecast revenue opportunities.
