Job Description

TITLE:
Insurance Accounts Specialist
DEPARTMENT
Business Office
REPORTS TO
Business Office Director
JOB SUMMARY
The primary duty for this position is to follow-up with insurance companies on payment of claims. Contact all parties necessary to resolve outstanding insurance payments. Work all incoming insurance correspondence, insurance rejections, and incoming calls. Review the remittance advices for denials and correct payment contacting the companies when necessary. Assist with scheduling on an as-needed basis.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Must be a high school graduate.
Licensure:
Not applicable
Experience:
A minimum of 2 years experience in hospital registration and/or business office. Knowledge of insurance payors, ICD-9 codes and CPT codes preferred.
Physical and Mental Demands:
Primarily sedentary work. Must be able to work proficiently on computer and various software programs including Microsoft Office. Must have ability to efficiently handle several tasks at once.
Travel:
Not required
Working Conditions:
Working in a office setting. May encounter unpleasant customers at times questioning their account.
Principle Contacts:
Position involves working with several people which includes co-workers in the facility and customers on the phone and in person.
