Role:
The Commercial Portfolio Officer is responsible for assisting Commercial Relationship Mangers by helping maintain and grow a portfolio of commercial banking relationships while coordinating the needs of commercial portfolios as it related to needs of the Relationship Manager. The position serves as a strategic partner to Relationship Managers and clients by providing ongoing portfolio insight and assistance, identifying opportunities for growth, deepening customer relationships, facilitating cross-sell initiatives, and supporting the delivery of comprehensive commercial banking solutions.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
E 40% Work within multiple portfolios of commercial banking relationships with a focus on client retention, relationship expansion, profitability, and overall portfolio performance. E 25% Support relationship growth and portfolio optimization activities through portfolio analysis, client reviews, and strategic recommendations coordinating efforts between Commercial and Credit Administration. E 20% Drive business development and client engagement initiatives with Relationship Managers and key clients. E 10% Serve as a trusted advisor and portfolio resource through industry knowledge and commercial banking expertise. E 5% Support departmental leadership initiatives and team development.
Performance Measurements:
1. Partner effectively with Commercial Relationship Manager 2. Assist with front end guidance including cash flow analysis 3. Achieve portfolio growth objectives while maintaining acceptable risk characteristics. 4. Deepen client relationships through cross-sell referrals. 5. Maintain strong client retention and customer satisfaction. 6. Deliver timely analysis, portfolio reviews and recommendations.
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience Five years to eight years of similar or related experience. Education (1) A bachelor's degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g. information technology certifications in lieu of a degree). Interpersonal Skills Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is of a personal or sensitive nature. The ability to motivate, influence or persuade others is a material or major part of the job, requiring a significant level of diplomacy and trust. Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the job and a high level of interpersonal skills is critical to the success of this position. Work frequently involves contacts requiring considerable discussion of problems, material presentations, and resolving issues impacting departments or divisions. Motivating, influencing, and/or training others is key at this level. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others. Other Skills 1. High level of mathematical, language, writing, and independent reasoning skills.
2. Proficiency in word processing, excel, internet researching, multitasking, and spreadsheet software.
3. Must be capable of operating all types of office equipment including computer, copy machine, and telephone. Physical Requirements The person in this position needs to frequently move about inside the office to interact with associates or customers and access office machinery and file cabinets. The person in the position constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, photocopier, and printer. The position could require occasional travel. Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment.
