Marketing & Events Coordinator Malone Center for Career Engagement The Malone Center for Career Engagement is hiring a strategic and creative Marketing & Events Coordinator to join our team. The Malone Center at Furman University is committed to providing leading-edge career exploration, internship support, professional preparation, and employer/alumni connections. The team is dedicated to collaborating with each other, in addition to partnering with campus and external stakeholders to provide best-in-class career support to our students. The Marketing and Events Coordinator will be responsible for developing and implementing an effective communication strategy to increase student engagement with the Malone Center for Career Engagement throughout their Four-Year Pathway at Furman. Job Duties:
Marketing/Communications (50%) Develop and implement a communication plan that increases awareness and engagement with the Centers' programs and resources among students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and employers. Design and create content for email campaigns, newsletters, digital signage, presentations, annual reports, and print materials in accordance with Furman University branding guidelines. Manage Malone Center department website and social media channels. Create a marketing strategy to increase student and alumni engagement with Furman's new alumni engagement platform, The Furman Network (powered by PeopleGrove). Manage email, text, and app-based communication strategy, push notifications, and text/SMS channels. Support photography, storytelling, and data collection that highlight student and alumni success and the value of a Furman education. Serve as the Malone Center's liaison to University Marketing & Communications, partnering on stories and content that drive current student engagement and prospective student enrollment. Partner with the Office of Admissions on continual refresh of current data and materials for prospective students and parents. Assess marketing reach and distribution each semester, demonstrating connectivity to target audiences across the four-year pathway, and developing strategies for new channels. Event Management (40%) Coordinate the planning and execution of all Malone Center events including career fairs, career treks, networking receptions, alumni panels, and other signature events. Manage all event logistics including room reservations, catering, hotel accommodations, vendor coordination, transportation, technology, parking, signage, setup, and day-of support. Maintain the Center's event calendar and design a printed student calendar of events each semester. Input all center's events into Handshake. Provide occasional evening or weekend support for signature events and campus programs as needed. Operations (10%) Hire, train, and supervise a team of student workers/interns that will serve as the first point of contact and provide exceptional customer service to students, employers, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and other constituents that visit the Malone Center for Career Engagement. The student workers will also provide support with marketing, events, and outreach initiatives. Employ a student development focused lens to student work, ensuring that the career ambassadors program is a high impact experience for student workers. Serve as the primary purchasing card holder for the Malone Center.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communication, business, higher education, or a related field. One to three years of relevant experience in marketing, communications, event planning, student affairs, or related setting. Demonstrated project management and organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple deadlines and details simultaneously. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences. Experience with social media platforms, direct email and text-based marketing tools, and website content management systems (WordPress). Proficiency in Canva and Adobe Creative Suite, specifically InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, faculty, employers, and other stakeholders. Must be a team player.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a higher education environment, providing direct service to students. Familiarity with career services platforms such as Handshake, PeopleGrove, and GradLeaders.
