- January 2027) Cherry On Top Bookshop Fort Collins, Colorado Position Overview Cherry On Top Bookshop is seeking Seasonal Community Ambassadors to provide additional support during events, weekends, holidays, seasonal rushes, inventory projects, employee absences, and other periods of increased business activity.
Compensation:
$16.00- 18.
Expected Hours:
Approximately 12-20 hours per week, based on business needs. No minimum number of hours is guaranteed. Weekend and holiday availability will be preferred.Benefits:
Employees receive paid sick leave in accordance with Colorado law and an employee discount. No additional benefits are currently offered. Core Responsibilities Customer Experience Greet and assist customers in a friendly, professional manner. Provide product recommendations and store guidance. Operate the point-of-sale system and process transactions accurately. Support customer pickup orders and special events. Represent the bookstore positively both in-store and throughout the community. Event & Community Support Assist with author events, book clubs, workshops, festivals, markets, and community activations. Support event setup, execution, and breakdown. Transport supplies, books, fixtures, and merchandise as needed. Assist with customer flow, event check-in, and merchandise sales. Represent the bookstore at off-site events and community partnerships. Inventory & Operational Support Receive, unpack, move, and shelve books and merchandise. Restock displays and sales floor inventory. Support inventory counts, audits, and organizational projects. Pack and prepare online orders. Assist with merchandising updates and seasonal resets. Move inventory and supplies between floors and storage areas. Store Maintenance & Daily Tasks Put out and bring in exterior signage and flags. Support opening and closing procedures. Maintain clean and organized customer and work areas. Take out trash and recycling. Complete assigned cleaning and maintenance tasks. Assist with general operational projects as needed. Qualifications Preferred Experience Customer service, hospitality, retail, events, or community engagement experience preferred. Experience working in fast-paced, high-volume, customer-facing environments preferred. Skills & Competencies Successful Community Ambassadors are: Customer-focused. Dependable and punctual. Adaptable and comfortable shifting priorities. Positive and team-oriented. Able to work independently and collaboratively. Interested in books and community-building. Physical Requirements This position includes regular physical activity and requires the ability to: Lift and carry up to 40 pounds. Move books, merchandise, and event supplies. Transport inventory up and downstairs and between event spaces. Set up and break down tables, displays, fixtures, and event equipment. Stand and walk for extended periods. Bend, reach, stoop, and climb ladders as needed. Work indoors and outdoors during community events. Scheduling Expectations Community Ambassadors are scheduled on an as-needed basis.Scheduling opportunities may include:
Weekend shifts Evening events Author events Book clubs Festivals and community events Holiday shopping periods Seasonal traffic increases Inventory projects Vacation coverage Occasional illness-related coverage Once a shift has been accepted, attendance expectations are the same as those for any scheduled employee. Community Ambassadors are not required to remain on call and are free to accept or decline shift opportunities based on their availability. Availability Applicants should generally have some availability for: Weekends, inclusive of both days Evening events Holidays Seasonal business periods Employees are not required to maintain continuous availability and may adjust their schedules with proper notice to management. Because this position exists to provide supplemental support, employees who no longer wish to participate in the relief staffing pool or who are unavailable for extended periods may be removed from the active roster as operational needs change.
