Schedule:
3-4 days per week, including weekends/holidays Reports to: Executive Director Position Summary Sterling Farms Golf Course is seeking a hands-on Operations Assistant to support the daily operation of a busy municipal golf facility. This is an active, on-your-feet role. The Operations Assistant works alongside the Executive Director and directly with staff and golfers to keep the course, the driving range, and the flow of play running the way they should. The right candidate is someone who would rather be moving around the property solving problems than sitting behind a desk — but who is also comfortable enough with computers to handle website updates and routine software tasks when needed. Key ResponsibilitiesCourse Operations & Flow of Play Monitor pace of play throughout the day and intervene early when groups fall out of position Work with rangers and starters to keep the tee sheet running on schedule Walk and drive the property regularly to identify issues before golfers do Serve as a visible, professional point of contact for golfers on the course Address golfer questions, concerns, and complaints in the moment; escalate to the Executive Director when appropriate Driving Range Operations Oversee daily range setup, breakdown, and hourly upkeep Monitor ball inventory, picking schedules, washing, and dispenser function Maintain tee line rotation, mat and turf condition, and target/signage upkeep Coordinate range maintenance needs and report equipment issues promptly Staff Supervision Provide day-to-day direction to rangers, starters, and range attendants on shift Confirm coverage, assist with shift scheduling, and address gaps as they arise Reinforce standards for guest service, appearance, and job performance Report personnel concerns and policy issues to the Executive Director Administrative & Technology Support Update the Sterling Farms website Assist with tee sheet and point-of-sale software, including reporting and troubleshooting Maintain operational records and assist with routine correspondence Support other back-end systems as assigned General Assist with tournaments, outings, leagues, and special events Support opening and closing procedures Other duties as assigned in support of facility operations Qualifications Required Prior experience in golf, hospitality, recreation, retail, or another customer-facing operation Comfort supervising or directing staff, including delivering correction professionally Working proficiency with computers, web browsers, and common business software; ability to learn new platforms quickly Strong verbal communication and a level-headed approach to guest complaints Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment without close supervision Availability on weekends and holidays Valid driver's license Preferred Familiarity with golf course operations and etiquette Experience with tee sheet or point-of-sale systems Experience updating website content through a CMS Bilingual English/Spanish Physical Requirements This position is performed largely outdoors in varying weather conditions. It requires walking, standing, and moving about the property for extended periods; operating a golf cart and utility vehicles; and lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, including range ball baskets and equipment. Early morning and evening hours are required.
