This role serves as a key connection between customers and internal operations working closely with contractors, developers, project managers, dispatch, plant personnel, and management to understand project requirements and deliver reliable concrete solutions. The ideal candidate has strong sales and relationship-building skills, understands or can quickly learn the ready-mix concrete and construction industry, and is comfortable balancing customer expectations with production capacity, delivery requirements, pricing, and company objectives. This position requires a proactive, customer-focused individual who can identify market opportunities, strengthen existing accounts, and represent the company professionally throughout the local construction community. Key Responsibilities Sales & Business Development Develop and maintain relationships with contractors, developers, builders, municipalities, and other current and prospective ready-mix customers. Identify and pursue new sales opportunities within the company's service territory. Generate leads through networking, referrals, jobsite visits, industry relationships, and market research. Maintain regular contact with existing customers to understand upcoming projects, anticipated concrete needs, and future business opportunities. Assist with preparing quotes, pricing information, proposals, and other sales-related documentation. Follow up on outstanding quotes and opportunities to improve conversion and strengthen the sales pipeline. Work toward established sales, revenue, volume, and customer-retention goals. Customer Relationship Management Serve as a primary relationship contact for assigned customers and accounts. Build long-term customer relationships through consistent communication, responsiveness, reliability, and professional service. Conduct customer and jobsite visits to understand project requirements, schedules, challenges, and future needs. Address customer questions or concerns and coordinate with internal teams to identify practical solutions. Proactively communicate with customers regarding upcoming projects, changing demand, service capabilities, and relevant company offerings. Maintain awareness of customer purchasing patterns and identify opportunities to expand existing accounts. Market Development & Marketing Monitor local construction activity, upcoming developments, infrastructure projects, and other opportunities that may create demand for ready-mix concrete. Develop an understanding of competitors, market pricing, customer preferences, and regional construction trends. Assist management in identifying new markets, customer segments, geographic opportunities, and potential service offerings. Support company marketing activities, customer outreach, industry events, trade associations, networking opportunities, and promotional initiatives. Help develop sales and marketing materials that clearly communicate the company's capabilities, services, and value to customers. Represent the company professionally at industry events, customer meetings, jobsites, and community or business functions. Pricing, Quotes & Sales Administration Assist with preparing and communicating customer quotes based on project requirements, product specifications, delivery considerations, and approved pricing structures. Maintain accurate records of customer contacts, quotes, opportunities, projects, and sales activity. Track open opportunities and provide regular updates regarding sales pipeline activity and anticipated concrete volume. Coordinate with management regarding pricing strategies, competitive situations, large projects, and special customer requirements. Ensure customer commitments accurately reflect operational capabilities and approved commercial terms. Internal Coordination Work closely with dispatch and plant personnel to understand production capacity, delivery capabilities, customer requirements, and operational constraints. Communicate upcoming projects, expected volumes, significant customer orders, and special delivery requirements to operations. Coordinate with management regarding customer concerns, pricing issues, competitive activity, and significant sales opportunities. Maintain communication with dispatch regarding important customer schedules and project changes when appropriate. Balance customer expectations with realistic plant, trucking, production, and delivery capabilities. Support communication between customers and operations to help prevent misunderstandings and improve overall customer satisfaction. Forecasting & Market Intelligence Maintain awareness of upcoming customer projects and anticipated concrete demand. Provide sales forecasts and customer demand information to assist management with operational and production planning. Track significant projects within the market from bidding and planning stages through construction. Monitor competitor activity, pricing trends, construction conditions, and other factors affecting ready-mix demand. Provide management with feedback regarding customer needs, service opportunities, competitive concerns, and market changes. Identify patterns that may help the company improve customer retention, market share, profitability, and overall service. Required Qualifications Minimum 3 years of experience in sales, business development, account management, customer service, construction, building materials, or a related field, or a strong equivalent combination of experience. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build professional relationships with customers, contractors, and internal teams. Demonstrated ability to develop new business while maintaining and growing existing customer relationships. Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple customers, projects, quotes, and priorities simultaneously. Ability to negotiate professionally and communicate pricing, service capabilities, and customer expectations clearly. Comfortable using basic office applications, email, spreadsheets, CRM systems, and other sales or business software. Ability to travel locally to customer offices, jobsites, networking events, and other business locations. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. High school diploma/Associates degree. Preferred Qualifications Experience in ready-mix concrete, aggregates, cement, asphalt, construction materials, trucking, or related industries. Previous outside sales or account management experience within the construction or building-materials industry. Existing relationships within the local contractor, developer, construction, or building community. Familiarity with ready-mix concrete products, specifications, applications, and construction terminology. Experience preparing estimates, quotes, bids, or pricing for construction-related products or services. Experience using CRM, ERP, dispatch, estimating, or construction-management software. Bachelor's or Graduate degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, Construction Management, or a related field is beneficial.

Work Environment & Schedule Primarily a combination of office-based work, customer meetings, and field visits throughout the company's service area. Regular travel to customer offices, construction sites, plants, networking events, and prospective project locations. Work may include exposure to active construction and ready-mix plant environments requiring appropriate personal protective equipment and adherence to site safety requirements. Schedule may vary depending on customer needs, project activity, networking events, and peak construction season. Occasional early morning, evening, or additional hours may be required to support customers, attend events, visit jobsites, or respond to significant business opportunities. Compensation & Benefits Salary or salary-plus-incentive compensation commensurate with experience and responsibility level. Competitive pay based on experience.
