Marketing & Communications Specialist (Coordinator of Visual Design)

Full-Time | Professional | 12-Month The Office of Marketing & Recruitment is seeking a creative, energetic, and highly motivated Marketing & Communications Specialist who will serve as the institution's Coordinator of Visual Design. This position will be responsible for capturing, creating, editing, and distributing engaging visual content that tells the story of Pearl River Community College through photography, videography, social media, and digital marketing. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for storytelling and content creation, with the ability to produce compelling photos, videos, reels, TikToks, and graphics that showcase student life, academics, athletics, events, alumni success, and the Pearl River story. This role will be instrumental in growing the College's digital presence, increasing engagement, enhancing brand awareness, and supporting student recruitment and retention efforts across all campuses. Responsibilities Serve as the primary content creator for PRCC's social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and emerging channels. Capture high-quality photography and videography at campus events, student activities, athletics, academic programs, recruitment events, and special initiatives. Create engaging short-form video content, including reels, TikToks, promotional videos, student testimonials, and behind-the-scenes features. Develop and execute social media content calendars that align with institutional goals, enrollment initiatives, and brand strategy. Produce, edit, and publish photos, videos, graphics, and multimedia content with quick turnaround times. Identify and capitalize on social media trends, viral content opportunities, and emerging digital storytelling techniques. Conduct student, faculty, staff, alumni, and community interviews to create impactful visual stories. Collaborate with recruitment, athletics, student services, academic divisions, advancement, and other campus departments to highlight programs and initiatives. Assist with digital marketing campaigns that support enrollment growth, student engagement, and institutional awareness. Monitor social media analytics and engagement metrics to improve content performance and audience growth. Maintain visual brand standards and ensure consistency across all platforms and communication channels. Assist with graphic design projects including social media graphics, advertisements, promotional materials, presentations, and digital publications. Support live event coverage through social media storytelling and real-time content creation. Preferred Qualifications & Skills Exceptional photography, videography, and visual storytelling skills. Strong understanding of social media strategy, audience engagement, and content trends. Experience creating high-performing content for Instagram Reels, TikTok, and Facebook. Knowledge of current social media best practices and platform algorithms. Ability to identify and capture authentic student-centered stories. Strong graphic design skills and understanding of branding principles. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects and deadlines. Commitment to collaboration, creativity, innovation, and teamwork. Work Experience Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or equivalent content creation software. Demonstrated experience in photography, videography, video editing, and social media content creation. Ability to produce high-quality content in a fast-paced environment with quick turnaround expectations. Work closely with the marketing and creative teams to align visual content with overall marketing goals. Collaborate with other departments to understand their visual content needs and deliver compelling solutions. Ability to travel between campuses and attend off-campus events as needed. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to cover campus activities and special events.
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Graphic Design, Digital Media, Multimedia Production, or a related field required. Master's preferred.
