We offer a wide variety of the best cannabis products NYC has to offer for in-store shopping and online pickup. Inspired by the iconic aesthetics and brash tones of legacy news outlets from the pages of New York history, we promise to deliver curated cannabis products with a headline and a mission to keep NYC buzzing! Position Overview The Graphic Design & Marketing Coordinator will support all marketing campaigns for The Daily Green, including daily, monthly, and quarterly marketing initiatives. This position will be chiefly responsible for executing the design and establishing the vision for marketing initiatives planned by the Director of Operations & Marketing, who this role will directly report to. We're looking for a graphic design and marketing professional who understands the value of this opportunity to design for one of the most recognizable and visible dispensaries in North America. The Daily Green is not your average local cannabis dispensary, we are one of the busiest locations in Manhattan and serve thousands of customers every week from across the globe. Your designs, assets, and marketing material could be seen by hundreds of thousands of people each month. We're searching for someone who is not only excited by the opportunity, but is passionate about bringing creativity and education to the New York cannabis industry.
Key Responsibilities Brand Strategy:
  • Develop the brand assets with the Director of Operations & Marketing, ensuring design consistency with our Brand Guidelines and cannabis regulations across our physical retail space, digital marketing assets, and website experiences.
  • Assist with community & industry event marketing, planning, promotion, and execution.
Graphic Design:
  • Direct design execution across digital channels (website, email, newsletters, social templates) and physical environments (retail, signage, displays, guerilla marketing).
  • Develop branded omni-channel campaign assets for retail holidays, seasonal promotions, and day-to-day business functions that demonstrates an understanding of the marketing plans and logically lays out the relevant information
  • Maintain a high standard for graphic design content accuracy, regardless of the timelines or restrictions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Partner with the Operations, Procurement, and Retail teams to ensure seamless execution of design across all platforms and touchpoints.
  • Develop and maintain solid professional relationships with all other departments and teams for seamless collaboration and partnerships.
Social Media Content:
  • Collaborate with Retail Staff, Operations Teams, Brand Vendors, and our Customers to generate content for social media (mainly Instagram).
  • Lead IG content planning, with final review by Director of Operations & Marketing and Brand Strategist.
Visual Merchandising:
  • Assist the Operations and Procurement Teams to produce signs, graphics, posters, templates, and any other assets that may be required for the physical retail storefront.
  • Help bring marketing campaigns to life through occasional additions, decor, signage, etc to the store itself. Physical & Scheduling Requirements
  • Ability to stand, sit, or move for extended periods while performing tasks.
  • Comfortable navigating the dispensary to ensure proper marketing materials are posted and look correct.
  • Able to come into the store at least 4 days a week for in-person meetings and design work, with 1 work from home day per week. ○ Occasional weekend availability may be required for special events, industry functions, community volunteering, etc. Qualifications
General Experience:
○ Minimum of 3-4 years in similar marketing and graphic design roles, preferably for cannabis or retail businesses. ○ Applicants will be asked to submit portfolio materials of prior graphic design work for consideration for this role. Here is a list of specific portfolio items we are interested in: ■ Email Marketing Graphics & Campaigns ■ Retail or Business Signage ■ Digital Ads & Assets, such as Banner Ads ■ Logos, Branding, and Branded Work ■ Photography & Photo Editing ■ Video Assets, Animations, & Gifs ○ Preference will be given to applicants with experience in the cannabis industry, but it is not a requirement.
    Graphic Design:
    ○ Applicants must demonstrate strong graphic design fundamentals, there will be very little creative hand-holding in this role on the basics. ○ Applicants must be able to understand and apply all standard graphic design principles, such as color theory, use of negative space, organization of information, balance, contrast, repetition, etc. ○ Applicants must also be able to check and review their own work for accuracy before submitting final designs. ○
    NOTE:
    AI-assisted graphic design will not be permitted in this role. All graphic design assets must be created in-house or sourced from a human designer through content sites like Shutterstock.
      Professional Skills:
      ○ Strong organizational, strategic, and creative abilities, with high attention to detail and accuracy. ○ Preference will be given to applicants who also have a strong strategic mind for marketing initiatives in retail settings. We're looking for candidates who can create great content and strategically think through retail initiatives. ○ Ability to create and write simple copy for marketing assets and campaigns, such as email headers, social media captions, etc. ○ Strong verbal and written communication skills.
        Technical Proficiency:
        ○ Applicants must have an intimate working knowledge of Adobe graphic design applications, including Illustrator and Photoshop. Experience in InDesign and After Effects is preferred as well. ○ Experience with WordPress and Elementor is a huge plus, or any experience with front-end web development such as posting blogs, creating pages, or optimizing content for SEO.
          Cannabis Knowledge:
          Understanding of cannabis products, New York cannabis brands, and their uses is a plus. Why Join Us?
