Job Title:
Tactical Systems Business Development Manager Responsibilities include:- Identifying, qualifying and determining the appropriate strategy to pursue and capture new business opportunities with current and new customers in Gov't, DoD and/or with prime defense contractors.
- Working to achieve new business goals which increase market share and profitability for products and/or services
- goals will include both follow on work with existing customers and with developing new customers
- Working with the Director of Business Development for Tactical Systems, other Business Development members, and Program Management staff to develop and execute short and long term plans and programs to prosecute new opportunities and ensure profit growth and expansion of market share
- Formulating capture strategies and providing hands on leadership/guidance to multi-disciplined capture team. Strategies will be documented and monitored for execution.
- Researching, analyzing and monitoring financial, technical, and demographic factors so that opportunities may be capitalized on and the negative effects of competitive activity can be minimized. Tracking customer budgets, timelines, and spending profiles is required.
- Be personally engaged in specific opportunity captures that includes but limited to customer visits, trade shows, and pertinent conferences.
- Have regular customer contact to develop and maintain intimacy with their programs, needs, gaps, and opportunities and be proficient at identifying how to satisfy those gaps in a manner that benefits all parties.
- Recommending profitable pricing/proposal/marketing strategies for products, services and programs Education, skills, experience, and characteristics required:
- Bachelor's Degree (Engineering, Business or Information Technology with technical background) from a four-year college or university
- Minimum 4 years' experience with DOD systems and/or acquisition process in the DOD
- 8 years of directly related industry experience in business development
- Solid, proven experience with military tactical communication systems and government business development
- Strong knowledge of military standards, acquisition and proposal processes
- Strong written and verbal business communication skills
- Strong, demonstrated, presentation and business writing skills
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability/willingness to travel as required (mostly regional, but non local up to 50%)
