We specialize in plumbing, construction, renovation, and facility repair projects for residential, commercial, and government clients. We are seeking an experienced Director of Business Development to help take our company from approximately $2 million in annual revenue to $5 million and beyond. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who understands government contracting, construction sales, relationship development, and strategic growth. Position Summary The Director of Business Development will be responsible for identifying, pursuing, and helping secure new business opportunities in the government, commercial, and institutional sectors. The ideal candidate has experience developing opportunities with federal agencies, municipalities, military installations, prime contractors, and commercial clients. This is not an inside sales position. We are looking for a self-starter who can build relationships, identify opportunities, open doors, and help create long-term growth. Responsibilities Identify and pursue federal, state, local, and commercial construction opportunities Develop relationships with government agencies, military facilities, municipalities, and prime contractors Research and track upcoming solicitations and contracting opportunities Attend networking events, industry conferences, pre-bid meetings, and outreach events Assist with proposal development and strategic pursuit planning Develop teaming and subcontracting relationships with larger contractors Expand the company's presence within the government contracting market Create and maintain a business development pipeline Work closely with company leadership to develop growth strategies Track and report business development activities and opportunities Qualifications Required 5+ years of business development experience in construction, facilities maintenance, engineering, or government contracting Demonstrated success generating new business opportunities Experience with federal, state, or local government contracting Understanding of public works procurement and bidding processes Strong networking and relationship-building skills Excellent communication and presentation abilities Self-motivated and capable of working independently Preferred Experience with: NAVFAC Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Military installations Public works agencies General contractors and prime contractors Experience working with SDVOSB, SBA, or small business programs Existing network of government and commercial construction contacts in Southern California How to Apply Please send the following: Resume Brief summary of your government and/or construction business development experience Examples of contracts, clients, or markets you have helped develop Desired compensation range Please do not apply unless you have experience in construction business development, government contracting, public works, or a closely related field.
