Job Description

The Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology (CCAT) is a manufacturing technology innovation and readiness center focused on the application and adoption of digital, 3D printing and other critical technologies across manufacturing and industrial supply chains. As a technical business solutions provider, CCAT convenes regional and national partners, companies and technology providers to evaluate, implement, and integrate impactful technology capabilities into the processes and workflows of a company. By leveraging engineering expertise in model-based definition, digital thread, and additive manufacturing along with technical evaluations, technology demonstrations, and hands-on training, CCAT enables companies to accelerate technology adoption and upskill employees to improve productivity and profitability. CCAT is a nonprofit, non-traditional defense contractor and government fiduciary dedicated to advancing applied technologies and strengthening the U.S. industrial base. CCAT partners with federal and state agencies—including the DOW, DOE, NASA, SBA, and USDOC—through government-funded and commercial programs that support both defense and commercial manufacturing.
Position Title:
Director of Business Development & Marketing Position Summary:
The Director of Business Development & Marketing will lead the strategic direction, execution, and performance of CCAT's business development and marketing team. This role is responsible for partnering with leadership to identify and advise on business development, marketing and communication strategies and drive business growth through relationship management, territory development, and revenue generation.
Key Responsibilities:
Managerial Responsibilities Define and execute an integrated business development and marketing strategy to maximize outcomes across CCAT's portfolio of programs and services Establish objectives and key performance indicators, create forecasts and drive execution in support of company and campaign goals Provide leadership, coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations to ensure business development, marketing and communications team members meet and exceed targets. Foster a positive team culture, shared accountability, collaboration, development and continuous improvement. Develop, cultivate, and maintain cross functional influence within internal teams. Assist in the recruitment and onboarding of a high-performing team of Business Development, Sales, and Customer Service personnel. Business Development Responsibilities Identify and pursue new business opportunities, partnerships, and funding sources aligned with CCAT's strategic goals. Build and manage a pipeline of prospective clients across the manufacturing ecosystem. Cultivate and manage long-term relationships with key clients and strategic partners in the region and nationwide. Use customer relationship management (CRM) systems effectively to drive forecasting, business leads, and provide customer relations and support. Represent CCAT at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to expand outreach. Develop and implement strategies to strengthen pipeline for new partnerships and revenue generating initiatives. Marketing & Communications Develop and lead multi-state, regionally focused, technical marketing campaigns, including the generation of case studies. Manage and measure all communications channels to optimize reach and engagement; leverage digital marketing strategies and tactics (SEO, email automation, digital advertising). Manage, engage, and enable teams in the implementation of marketing campaigns, including organizing and delegating project roles/responsibilities, and managing team performance. Provide strategic direction to support new marketing ideas, concepts and tools and drive to execution. Review and approve direct marketing creatives to ensure strategy is executed properly. Build crisis management workflows. Provide strategic oversight of social media presence, including content direction, audience engagement, and crisis management. Other Responsibilities Adhere to CCAT safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe and compliant work environment. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in business, education, marketing, engineering, technology, or a related field.
Required Qualifications:
7-12 years total of business development, direct marketing, and sales experience working with manufacturers or private businesses with a proven track record of engaging businesses and customers, creating and executing sales or customer service plans. A demonstrated record of working and communicating successfully in a technology organization or environment. Proven track record of leading, coaching and mentoring teams. Demonstrated success in business development, marketing and partnership growth Strong executive presence. Advanced level writing, editing, and presentation skills. Experience identifying and building external partnerships. Strong experience working cross-functionally and influencing senior leadership. Ability to translate business objectives into strategies that drive measurable outcomes. Experience managing multiple priorities, projects, and timelines in a fast-paced environment Ability to travel to customer meetings, corporate training, and tradeshows in the northeast U.S. region Demonstrated CRM platform proficiency; Salesforce preferred Must fulfill ITAR citizenship requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficient in HTML, web design, marketing automation, and digital advertising applications. Experience working with or within the U.S. military or Department of War contractor community. Demonstrated prior strong, professional relationships with manufacturers and their key personnel throughout the northeast region.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
The role requires frequent computer use, clear communication on sensitive topics, and occasional travel to business sites and events. The work environment is a typical office setting with moderate noise.
