Overview The Director of Sales is a senior commercial leader responsible for driving revenue growth, building a high-performing sales organization, and delivering consistent results across a multi-location, 700+ employee company in Central Florida. This role owns the full sales strategy, pipeline, team performance, and customer acquisition/retention for a complex B2B environment. The Director will lead, coach, and scale a team of 30+ sales professionals while partnering closely with operations, marketing, finance, and executive leadership to achieve ambitious growth targets. Key Responsibilities Sales Strategy & Execution
  • Develop and execute the annual and multi-year sales strategy aligned with company growth objectives.
  • Own revenue targets, pipeline health, forecasting accuracy, and win-rate improvement.
  • Identify new market opportunities, verticals, and account expansion strategies within Central Florida and adjacent markets.
  • Drive consistent sales process discipline, CRM utilization, and data-driven decision making. Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of 30+ sales professionals (outside sales, account managers, and inside sales).
  • Hire, onboard, and retain top commercial talent; build clear career paths and succession plans.
  • Establish performance standards, conduct regular coaching, pipeline reviews, and performance management.
  • Foster a high-accountability, collaborative culture focused on results, continuous improvement, and customer value. Customer & Market Focus
  • Strengthen relationships with key accounts and strategic customers.
  • Partner with operations and service teams to ensure seamless customer experience from sale through delivery and support.
  • Monitor competitive landscape, pricing dynamics, and market trends to maintain commercial advantage.
  • Collaborate with marketing on lead generation, campaign alignment, and sales enablement tools. Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Work closely with finance on pricing strategy, margin management, and incentive plan design.
  • Align with operations leadership on capacity, service levels, and product availability to support sales commitments.
  • Provide executive-level reporting on sales performance, risks, and opportunities.
  • Contribute to broader organizational initiatives that support commercial growth and operational excellence. Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or related field (MBA preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive B2B sales experience, with at least 5 years in a sales leadership role managing multi-person teams.
  • Proven track record of leading teams of 20+ sales professionals and consistently exceeding revenue targets.
  • Strong experience in complex or consultative selling environments (building materials, construction, industrial distribution, manufacturing, or related industries highly preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to build, scale, and develop high-performing sales organizations.
  • Excellent forecasting, pipeline management, and CRM discipline (Salesforce or similar).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable commercial insights.
  • Exceptional communication, executive presence, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience in multi-location or multi-branch sales organizations.
  • Background in Central Florida or Southeast U.S. markets.
  • Familiarity with construction, building products, lumber, truss, or related distribution businesses.
  • Experience designing or refining sales compensation and incentive plans.
  • Track record of successful talent development and internal promotions within a sales organization. Core Competencies
