About the Company Sam-Jay Services is a Savannah-based construction and site-services company with $5-10M in annual revenue across two operating divisions: Underground Utilities — underground utility installation, repair, and maintenance for general contractors, municipal customers, and site developers. Land Management — commercial landscaping, land clearing, and recurring property maintenance for commercial property owners, HOAs, and industrial customers. We have a strong reputation in the Savannah market and the demand to grow. We are now investing in the systems, leadership, and discipline to scale that demand into a more predictable, repeatable revenue engine — and this role is central to that. About the Role The Sales Manager owns the full Sam-Jay revenue line across both divisions. This is a closer-leaning role — pipeline, prospecting, bid walks, pricing, closing, and account expansion — not a back-office sales management seat. Today, sales is distributed across operators who should be running the business, not chasing leads. This role consolidates revenue ownership into a single seat. You will partner with our Senior Estimator on Underground technical scoping and with our Land Management Director on recurring and project work — but the revenue line, the close, and the customer relationship are yours. Cross-sell is a core expectation. Many of our customers have needs that span both divisions, and capturing that full wallet — including underutilized assets like roll-off services, environmental and stormwater scopes, and government contracts — is a meaningful piece of this role. This is a build role. You will design the sales playbook, set the forecasting cadence, and shape how Sam-Jay sells for the next several years. You will report directly to the Owner. Key Responsibilities Pipeline & New Business Build and manage a qualified pipeline across Underground Utilities and Land Management Own outbound prospecting to general contractors, property owners, developers, and municipal decision-makers Run discovery and site walks; partner with the estimating team to produce fast, accurate quotes Chase government and Army Corps RFP opportunities using the Sam-Jay capability statement Closing & Pricing Own the proposal-to-close process and close work at or above target gross margin Negotiate terms, pricing, and scope with customers and GCs within company guardrails Coordinate change-order conversations on active jobs with estimating and operations Customer Relationships & Cross-Sell Maintain executive-level relationships with top accounts across both divisions Drive cross-division opportunities — roll-off services, environmental and stormwater scopes, recurring service contracts Renew and expand recurring Land Management contracts year over year Surface underutilized Sam-Jay assets and capabilities as new revenue lines Sales Operations, Playbook & Marketing Own CRM hygiene, forecasting, and weekly pipeline reporting to the Owner Build and iterate the Sam-Jay sales playbook — target accounts, pricing guardrails, proposal templates Represent Sam-Jay at Chamber of Commerce, CFO luncheons, and trade events; deploy capability statement and marketing materials Over time: hire and coach additional sales or BD support as the pipeline scales Required Qualifications 7+ years of B2B sales experience in construction, site services, utilities, landscaping, or adjacent trades Construction background — credible on a bid walk in underground, site work, environmental, or commercial landscape Track record of hitting or exceeding bookings quotas tied to gross margin (not just revenue) Experience selling to GCs, developers, municipal buyers, and commercial property owners Strong CRM discipline and forecasting rigor; comfortable owning the pipeline number Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, willingness to be in the field 40%+ of the time Preferred Qualifications Not required, but candidates with any of the following will move to the top of the list: Existing book of business or active referral network in the Savannah / Southeast coastal Georgia market (strongly preferred) Underground foreman or utility license — direct credibility on Underground sales conversations Georgia and South Carolina spray licenses — required for DMCA contract work Heavy environmental, stormwater, or wetland delineation knowledge — relevant to landfill and government contract pipeline Government contract management experience (Army Corps, municipal, DMCA) Prior people-management experience — this role may scale to a small team within 12-18 months
Compensation Base Salary:
$95,000 (flexible for the right candidate with a substantial book of business or marquee certifications)Variable Compensation:
~$35,000 at target, paid quarterly on closed-and-invoiced work, with a margin multiplier so the role is paid for profitable winsTarget On-Target Earnings:
~$130,000 (uncapped upside above target) Location Savannah, GA — field and office. This is an in-market role; expect 50%+ time in the field with customers, on bid walks, and at job sites across coastal Georgia and South Carolina.
