Flexible Materials, Inc. is seeking an experienced National Sales Manager to lead our sales organization, strengthen distributor relationships, develop new markets, and drive profitable growth throughout the United States. Founded in 1929, Flexible Materials is a customer-focused manufacturer serving the architectural woodworking industry with wood veneer sheets, architectural panels, edge banding, and related products. We are based in Jeffersonville, Indiana, and serve customers throughout the U.S. We are also an employee-owned company through our Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). The Opportunity As National Sales Manager, you will own the development and execution of our national sales strategy with a primary focus on increasing sales and profitability. You will lead and support a team of Account Managers, grow distributor partnerships, identify new business opportunities, and stay directly connected to customers and the marketplace. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys developing people, building lasting customer relationships, and turning strategy into measurable growth. What You'll Do
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans aligned with company growth and profitability goals.
- Lead, coach, mentor, and support Account Managers responsible for territories throughout the United States.
- Establish clear sales expectations, objectives, and accountability while supporting professional development and strong customer service.
- Grow revenue by strengthening existing distributor relationships and identifying prospective distributors and channel partners.
- Identify new markets, customers, and business development opportunities.
- Participate in joint sales calls with Account Managers and distributor representatives.
- Develop aggressive but achievable annual sales forecasts in partnership with the sales team.
- Monitor sales activity, market conditions, customer needs, and territory performance to identify opportunities for growth.
- Build strong, long-term relationships with customers and prospects and help resolve customer issues when needed.
- Collaborate with company leadership and key departments to align sales strategy with operational and business objectives.
- Participate in weekly leadership team meetings and contribute to broader company strategy.
- Represent Flexible Materials at industry trade shows, conventions, customer meetings, and other industry events.
- Travel throughout the United States as needed, including approximately 25% overnight travel by air and automobile. What we are looking for The successful candidate will be an experienced sales leader who combines strong business judgment with the ability to develop people, build relationships, and execute a growth strategy. Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated outside sales experience in a business-to-business (B2B) environment.
- Experience developing new business and growing existing customer relationships.
- Experience leading, coaching, or managing a sales team.
- Proven ability to develop and execute sales strategies and achieve measurable results.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to quickly establish credibility and build rapport with customers, distributors, and employees.
- Strong leadership skills and a high level of emotional intelligence.
- Ability and willingness to travel throughout the United States. Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in wood products, architectural woodworking, building products, manufacturing, or distribution.
- Experience developing or managing distributor relationships.
- Familiarity with Sandler Sales Training or a similar consultative sales methodology.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints or architectural drawings.
- Experience using behavioral or communication-style tools such as DISC or similar assessments.
- Bachelor's degree in business, sales, marketing, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience will also be considered. Why Flexible Materials?
