Job Description
NOW HIRING - GENERAL SALES MANAGER
| Owensboro, KY High Energy | Sales Leadership | Customer Experience | Leadership Development Track We need someone who brings energy into the building every single day. Not fake hype. Not forced enthusiasm. Not somebody who is only motivated when the board looks good. We want someone whose presence raises the level of the room. Someone who walks in ready to compete, coach, communicate, solve problems and create momentum. Your energy should be contagious. If the sales floor is flat, you change it. If the team is discouraged, you reset it. If the month starts slow, you create urgency. If the dealership is busy, you help organize the chaos. If the team is winning, you make sure they stay hungry.YOU SHOULD TOUCH EVERY CUSTOMER
This is not a manager who hides behind a desk. You need to be visible. Introduce yourself. Build rapport. Know who's in the showroom. Understand what customers are trying to accomplish. Recognize when a deal is losing momentum. Help overcome objections. Support the salesperson without taking over every deal. Make sure customers feel welcomed, respected and appreciated. We want a GSM who can walk onto the floor and immediately create confidence.YOU OWN THE SALES FLOOR
You will lead: Daily sales meetings Lead management CRM accountability Appointment setting Follow-up Customer engagement Sales training Role-playing Objection handling Closing development Phone skills Lead-source performance After-sale communication Referral development Customer satisfaction You will also be responsible for keeping the sales team engaged and moving. There should be urgency without chaos. Competition without toxicity. Accountability without negativity. Energy without theatrics.BRING IT EVERY DAY
This role requires consistency. Anyone can be energetic on a 12-car Saturday. We want the person who brings the same intensity on a rainy Tuesday morning when the showroom is empty. You should naturally be the person who: Starts conversations Creates momentum Challenges people Celebrates wins Pushes through slow periods Keeps standards high Refuses to let complacency settle in The sales team should feel your presence when you're there. And over time, your leadership should become strong enough that the standards remain even when you're not standing in the room.CRITICAL THINKING IS PARAMOUNT
Energy alone isn't enough. We want someone with both intensity and intelligence. If leads aren't converting, don't automatically say we need more leads. Find out why. Is response time too slow? Are appointments not being confirmed? Is the message wrong? Are salespeople failing to ask good questions? Is follow-up weak? Are managers getting involved too late? Is inventory missing what the customer wants? Is the process failing? Bring energy to the problem—but bring your brain first. Management is understanding why a result happened and creating a better result the next time.GOOD ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH
Our standard is simple: Good isn't good enough until it's your best—and it's the best. That applies to customer experience. Follow-up. Sales meetings. Training. Closing. Communication. CRM usage. And the overall energy of the floor. We're not looking for perfection. We're looking for relentless improvement.THE MANAGEMENT STRUCTURE
You will be part of a three-person leadership team.GM / OPERATOR
Owns the overall business.AGM / INVENTORY & OPERATIONS
Owns inventory, recon, service, pre-sale processes and operational execution.GSM / SALES & CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE
Owns the people, leads, customer journey and energy of the sales floor. The GM will step in when necessary, but the goal is delegation and leadership development—not constant intervention.DEVELOP THE TEAM
If you're the only person who can close, you're not doing the job. Your responsibility is to make everyone around you better. Teach. Coach. Role-play. Listen to calls. Inspect follow-up. Review CRM activity. Celebrate improvement. Correct bad habits. Create standards. Hold people accountable. Identify future leaders. Your success should be visible in the growth of the people underneath you.CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE DOESN'T END AT DELIVERY
You will help own the customer relationship before, during and after the sale. That includes:
Follow-up Reviews Referrals Repeat business Problem resolution Community reputation Customer retention Cars are mechanical and problems will happen. What matters is how we respond. We want someone who doesn't avoid difficult conversations and who can turn a frustrated customer into someone who feels heard and respected.THE CAREER PATH
This is not intended to be a dead-end management position. Our leadership structure is designed around development: Sales → GSM → AGM → GM / Operator The GSM should learn inventory, desking and operations from the AGM. The AGM should learn full-store leadership from the GM. The GM should develop toward an ownership/operator role. As we expand, we want future managers coming from the bench we're building now.WHO WE WANT
Automotive sales-management experience is preferred. But we're specifically looking for someone with: High energy Presence Leadership Critical thinking Emotional intelligence Competitiveness Strong communication Accountability Coachability Customer instincts Consistency You need to know when to push. When to coach. When to listen. When to close. When to step in. And when to let your people work. If you're naturally the person who raises the level of the room, we want to talk to you. When applying, tell us about a sales team you helped improve, what you changed, and what measurable result followed. Apply confidentially by sending your resume and references. We will only respond to those who email or call in to the point of contacts below.Email:
