IAD AUTO INC

is an established, independent automotive dealership serving the Washington, DC metropolitan area for more than 35 years . With two locations, 300+ vehicles in inventory, and a full-service automotive center staffed by experienced technicians , we are looking for an experienced, aggressive, and results-driven Used Car Sales Manager to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced automotive leader who understands that a successful used-car operation is built on the right inventory, the right acquisition strategy, accurate appraisals, competitive pricing, fast reconditioning, strong inventory turn, and a highly motivated sales team. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of the department, make data-driven decisions, and consistently drive volume, gross profit, inventory turn, and overall profitability.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Lead and manage the day-to-day operation of the used vehicle department. Develop and execute strategies to increase used vehicle sales, gross profit, and overall department profitability. Manage the complete used-car inventory lifecycle—from acquisition and appraisal through pricing, merchandising, sale, and wholesale disposition. Source quality inventory through customer trades, auctions, wholesalers, and other inventory channels. Accurately appraise trade-ins while balancing market value, acquisition cost, reconditioning expenses, and potential retail profit. Monitor market data and competitor pricing to ensure vehicles are competitively positioned. Manage inventory aging, turn rates, pricing adjustments, and wholesale decisions. Oversee the reconditioning process and work closely with the Service Department to ensure vehicles are completed quickly and brought to frontline-ready standards. Monitor key performance indicators including sales volume, front-end gross, total gross, inventory turn, aging, days-to-market, recon costs, and overall profitability. Work closely with the General Manager and other departments to develop inventory and sales strategies. Assist with deal structuring, negotiations, and closing opportunities when necessary. Lead, train, coach, and motivate the sales team to consistently achieve and exceed monthly objectives. Conduct regular sales meetings and performance reviews while holding the team accountable to established goals. Develop strong relationships with auctions, wholesalers, vendors, lenders, and other inventory sources. Ensure all sales, pricing, appraisal, and vehicle acquisition practices follow company policies and applicable compliance requirements. Identify opportunities to improve processes, increase efficiency, and maximize profitability.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Proven experience as a Used Car Manager, Sales Manager, General Sales Manager, or similar automotive management role. Strong track record of achieving sales volume and profitability objectives. Extensive knowledge of used vehicle appraisals, acquisitions, pricing, and inventory management. Strong understanding of current used-car market trends and online vehicle valuation/pricing. Experience managing inventory aging, turn, gross profit, and wholesale strategy. Strong leadership and team-development skills with the ability to recruit, train, coach, and hold salespeople accountable. Excellent negotiation, communication, organizational, and decision-making skills. Strong understanding of dealership sales processes, desking, deal structure, and compliance. Ability to analyze dealership reports, market data, and KPIs and turn that information into actionable strategies. Experience with vAuto, Dealertrack, Arkona DMS, and eLeads CRM is a major plus. Experience working with auction platforms and wholesale inventory sources is highly desirable. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume dealership environment. Valid driver's license and a strong driving record. High school diploma or equivalent required; additional automotive training or education is a plus.
