Our automotive dealership is now seeking a talented Used Car Sales Manager to oversee our Used Vehicle strategy who is passionate about moving the needle with their in-depth market knowledge . We're seeking a leader who understands that successful used vehicle operations are built through disciplined inventory management, accurate pricing, aggressive acquisition strategies, and strong sales execution. This individual must be equally comfortable analyzing inventory reports, sourcing vehicles, coaching salespeople, and working alongside the General Sales Manager and General Manager to improve dealership performance. Position Summary The Used Car Sales Manager is responsible for driving the performance and profitability of the dealership's used vehicle business while serving as a key leader within the sales department. This role combines traditional Sales Manager responsibilities—including desking deals, coaching sales consultants, and supporting customer transactions—with ownership of used vehicle inventory management, acquisition, pricing, merchandising, and reconditioning oversight. The Used Car Sales Manager partners closely with dealership leadership to maximize used vehicle sales, inventory turn, gross profit, and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities commonly associated with Used Vehicle Manager and Sales Manager positions include inventory acquisition, appraisals, sales process execution, and used vehicle department performance. Key Responsibilities Lead the day-to-day execution of the dealership's used vehicle sales strategy. Desk deals and assist sales consultants throughout the sales process to maximize volume, gross profit, and customer satisfaction. Conduct trade appraisals and establish accurate vehicle valuations based on market conditions and inventory needs. Manage used vehicle inventory, including acquisition, pricing, merchandising, aging, and wholesale disposition. Develop inventory sourcing strategies through customer trade-ins, service drive opportunities, auctions, and direct-purchase initiatives. Monitor market trends and adjust pricing strategies to maintain competitiveness and maximize inventory turn. Partner with Service and Fixed Operations teams to manage reconditioning timelines and costs. Ensure all used inventory is properly photographed, marketed, and displayed across dealership and third-party websites. Coach and mentor sales consultants on product knowledge, sales process, objection handling, and customer experience. Support showroom traffic, customer interactions, and deal negotiations to drive closing ratios and profitability. Utilize CRM tools to ensure consistent follow-up, prospecting, and lead management practices. Analyze key performance metrics including used vehicle sales volume, gross profit, inventory turn, days-to-sale, acquisition effectiveness, and CSI performance. Maintain compliance with all dealership, OEM, federal, state, and local requirements. Assist dealership leadership in achieving overall sales and profitability objectives. Address escalated customer concerns in a timely and professional manner. Perform all other duties as assigned by leadership. Qualifications 3+ years of automotive sales leadership experience within an OEM franchise dealership. Previous experience as a Used Car Manager, Used Vehicle Manager, Sales Manager, Finance Manager, or similar leadership position preferred. Strong understanding of vehicle appraisals, inventory management, merchandising, and pricing strategy. Proven success managing used vehicle inventory and driving sales performance. Experience desking deals and supporting sales teams in a high-volume retail environment. Knowledge of inventory management tools such as vAuto and dealership CRM systems. Strong understanding of inventory acquisition, trade evaluation, reconditioning, and wholesale processes. Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and customer service skills. Strong financial acumen and ability to analyze dealership performance metrics. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Preferred Qualifications OEM franchise dealership experience. High-volume used vehicle sales experience. Experience with digital retailing and online inventory merchandising. Manufacturer leadership training or certifications.
