Director of Sales - Fairfield by Marriott Albuquerque North Albuquerque, New Mexico Position Summary The Director of Sales is responsible for leading all sales, marketing, and business development efforts for Fairfield by Marriott Albuquerque North. This position is accountable for driving top-line revenue, increasing market share, maximizing hotel profitability, and establishing the hotel as the preferred lodging choice within the Albuquerque market. The Director of Sales develops and executes strategic sales initiatives focused on corporate, government, group, sports, healthcare, and leisure business while building strong relationships throughout the local community. Working closely with the General Manager and Sun Capital Hotels' corporate leadership, the Director of Sales will create innovative strategies that exceed revenue goals and deliver exceptional guest experiences consistent with Marriott's values. Generate new business through proactive sales calls, networking, outside appointments, prospecting, and relationship development. Identify and pursue new corporate, government, healthcare, sports, SMERF, and group business opportunities. Maintain and grow existing client relationships to maximize repeat business. Negotiate contracts and secure new business opportunities. Conduct hotel tours, site inspections, and client presentations. Respond promptly to all sales inquiries and leads received through Marriott sales channels and other referral sources. Sales Leadership & Strategy Develop annual sales and marketing plans that align with hotel and company objectives. Analyze market trends, competitor activity, demand generators, and economic conditions to identify opportunities for revenue growth. Monitor production reports, pace reports, STR/CoStar data, and forecasting tools to evaluate hotel performance. Develop pricing and account strategies in collaboration with the General Manager and corporate revenue management team. Utilize Marriott and Sun Capital Hotels sales systems, CRM platforms, and reporting tools to manage accounts and sales activities. Marketing & Community Engagement Promote Fairfield by Marriott through community involvement and strategic partnerships. Represent the hotel at networking events, industry meetings, trade shows, and community organizations. Collaborate with Marriott marketing resources and Sun Capital Hotels to execute local marketing initiatives. Identify local advertising, sponsorship, and promotional opportunities that increase hotel visibility. Develop relationships with local businesses, medical facilities, corporate offices, universities, and event venues. Group Sales Manage group business from initial inquiry through post-event follow-up. Coordinate closely with hotel operations to ensure successful execution of group events. Work with sports teams, tour operators, social groups, corporate meetings, and extended-stay business. Ensure excellent communication between clients and hotel departments throughout the planning process. Leadership Partner with the General Manager to achieve financial and operational goals. Participate in Daily Business Review meetings and revenue strategy discussions. Prepare accurate sales forecasts, reports, budgets, and business plans. Support and foster a culture focused on teamwork, accountability, and exceptional guest service. Maintain effective communication with all hotel departments to ensure seamless execution of guest expectations. Comply with OSHA, HazCom, Bloodborne Pathogen, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Maintain confidentiality of guest, employee, and company information. Promote a safe and secure environment for guests and associates. QualificationsEducation High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field preferred. Experience Minimum of two years of hotel sales experience or 5 years of general sales management experience. Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred. Marriott experience preferred; experience with Marriott, Hilton, or other major hotel brands will also be considered. Demonstrated success in meeting or exceeding revenue goals. Experience in business development, account management, contract negotiation, and market analysis. Knowledge & Skills Qualified candidates will possess: Strong sales, negotiation, and presentation skills. Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities. Exceptional organizational and time management skills. Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Experience with sales platforms, or comparable hotel CRM systems preferred. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with hotel and corporate leadership. Requirements Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Ability to travel locally for sales appointments, networking events, and client meetings. Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, and special events. Physical Requirements Stand and walk for extended periods. Lift and carry up to 20 pounds. Bend, reach, kneel, and move throughout the hotel as needed.
