We're looking for an experienced Sales Manager to join our team at the Courtyard by Marriott at NMSU . This is more than just a sales role — it's an opportunity to shape guest experiences, hit ambitious sales goals, and grow your career . What We're Looking For A sales professional with a proven track record of hitting or exceeding goals (hotel sales preferred). A relationship-builder who thrives on prospecting, networking, and closing deals . Someone with a competitive spirit and self-driven motivation . Prior Marriott or Hilton sales system knowledge a plus.
Major Duties:
Responds promptly to all inquiries, leads and correspondence from prospects, clients and guests. Dedicates majority of time to direct phone sales, responding to leads, internet prospecting and direct cold calls. Follows up with all clients before, during, and after their function to ensure customer satisfaction and repeat business. Develops, calls on, makes personal visits, and maintains familiarity with differing market segments to target for solicitation. Participates in revenue management calls, and training for front desk associates to encourage upselling and awareness of hotel revenue goals. Develops an intimate working knowledge of all hotel departments and functions, including Front Desk, Operations, Housekeeping, Maintenance, Accounting, Marketing and Sales in order to be fully versed in all the hotel can offer our guests. Maintains familiarity with and analyzes the competition from other hotels within the surrounding area. Stays abreast on industry trends and makes recommendations of changes which would affect operations. In charge of ensuring our hotel is properly advertised in through all media channels. Consistently meets and exceeds all established sales goals providing reporting on weekly activities. Books meetings and conferences with an emphasis on up-selling guest rooms and additional amenities. Follows up on progress of group booking, such as room night pick up, rooming lists, and cut-off dates with the operations team to manage hotel inventory. Represents the hotel in a positive and professional manner at all times. Maintain memberships and contacts with hotel industry associations. This means attending trade shows pertinent to assigned areas. Establishes and maintains up-to-date communication will all hotel staff to prepare for and service groups and provide excellent service. Completes all required documentation in the sales system and maintains client files for continuity.
QUALIFICATIONS
Strong background in revenue management and budgeting Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets Flexible schedule and availability to attend networking and marketing events Exceptional customer service and guest relations skills A minimum of 2 years of hotel sales experience preferred, or 5 years' experience in a sales-focused role. Previous Marriott or Hilton experience a plus.

Ability to sit for extended periods throughout the workday Ability to communicate clearly and effectively Manuel dexterity needed to type Ability to grasp to hold a telephone Frequent travel within the local market, requiring the ability to drive and visit clients. Occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs.) for trade shows, presentations, and promotional events.
