The Sunbelt Sales manager is responsible for driving sales growth, managing distributor relationships, and executing strategic initiatives across the Sunbelt States for Gonzalez Byass USA, a respected U.S. importer with a portfolio of fine wines, fortified wines, and super-premium spirits.
This role requires deep expertise in both on- and off-premise channels, a proven track record in distributor management (ideally with significant experience working with Southern Glazer's), and strong leadership capabilities to inspire and lead internal sales teams to exceed company depletion goals. The West region includes key volume markets such as Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, among others.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute local strategies to meet and exceed volume, revenue, and profit goals within the Western region.
Build, maintain, and strengthen relationships with distributors, key accounts, retailers, and on-premise partners across the assigned territory.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including marketing, sales, finance, and operations to align regional execution with national brand priorities.
Analyze market trends, track competitor activity, and deliver actionable insights.
Organize and lead educational events, wine tastings, and trade shows to increase awareness and engagement with the portfolio.
Ensure adherence to all federal and state regulatory requirements related to the sale and distribution of alcoholic beverages.
Travel throughout the Western Region to support distributor teams, conduct market visits, and represent the company at trade and industry events. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field preferred.
Minimum 5 years of sales experience in the wine and spirits industry, with emphasis on distributor management and regional sales leadership.
Proven success in achieving sales targets, growing distribution, and launching new brands.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills; ability to develop strong, long-term partnerships.
Deep knowledge of the Sunbelt states beverage alcohol market with established distributor and key account relationships.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, VIP i
DIG, SGWS
Compass, and other sales and data tools.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Willingness to travel frequently throughout the Western region. Preferred Experience
Experience with a major distributor or supplier.
