Job Description

Vice President of Business Development Nevada Water and Fire Restoration — Reno, NV Full-time | $120,000 base + department override + quarterly incentives | On-target earnings $165,000
  • 205,000 We're not looking for someone to maintain what we've built.
We're looking for someone to build what's next. Nevada Water and Fire is a property restoration company serving Northern Nevada. When a home floods, burns, or fills with smoke, we're who shows up. We've built a strong reputation, a loyal referral network, and a team that does excellent work in genuinely hard conditions. We're now at the point where growth requires dedicated leadership over the revenue function. What you'll own The strategy. Which markets we go after, what we invest, what we expect back, and by when. You'll build the plan, defend the budget, and report actuals against your own forecast. The team. Two business development seats to fill in year one, plus the reps already here. You'll recruit them, coach them weekly, set their targets, and make the hard calls when someone isn't producing. A book of business. This is a player-coach role. You'll carry our top accounts personally and own our fire response vertical — including responding in the field until you've staffed it. The numbers. Cost per lead, cost per sale, average job size, market share — by vertical, every month. If you've never calculated those, this isn't your role. What success looks like in year one
  • Our existing referral verticals hold flat or grow
  • Our fire response business returns to its prior peak
  • $750,000 in new revenue from a vertical we don't have today — you choose which one and make the case for it
  • Both open seats filled with people who hit their numbers
  • Department cost managed below 8% of revenue sold, on a path to 5% What we're looking for 5+ years leading a sales, marketing, or business development team with direct revenue accountability You've built a referral channel or market vertical from nothing to real money, and you can tell us the numbers You've owned a marketing budget and can explain how you allocated it and why You've hired salespeople, coached them, and let some of them go You're comfortable being measured and comfortable measuring others You'll be in the field daily, and you'll respond to a significant loss outside business hours when it matters You either have a Northern Nevada network or a credible plan to build one fast Restoration, construction, insurance, property management, or hospitality background is a plus.
It is not required. We care more that you can sell, build, and lead than that you already know our industry — we can teach the industry. What this job is not We'd rather tell you now than in month three. It's not brand marketing. We measure referral revenue, not impressions. It's not a desk job. The work happens in the field. It's not a built team. You're constructing this department, not inheriting it. It's not insulated from ownership. Our owner is hands-on, direct, and will push you. He's also the reason this company is worth joining. If you need a buffer between you and the top, you'll be uncomfortable here. It's not always convenient. Fire doesn't keep business hours. You won't be up every night, but you can't decline on principle.
Compensation Base salary:
$120,000 (range $110,000
  • 135,000 depending on experience and network) Department override: 1% of business development revenue, paid monthly Quarterly strategic incentives: up to $20,000 annually, on objectives you help design Annual performance bonus: up to $15,000 On-target earnings: $165,000
  • 205,000 Full benefits, vehicle and phone allowance, paid time off Our hiring process We take this seriously and we ask the same of you.
1. Introductory conversation — 30 minutes, about your background and what you're looking for 2. Behavioral interview — 90 minutes with our ownership team 3. Working session — we send you real data from our business 48 hours ahead and ask you to come back with an analysis and a plan. Two hours. This is the part that matters most to us 4. References and offer To apply Send a resume and a short note answering one question: Tell us about a revenue channel you built from zero. What did you target, what did you spend, and what did it produce? We read every one of these. A thoughtful three paragraphs will get further with us than a polished cover letter. Nevada Water and Fire Restoration is an equal opportunity employer.
