Director of Sales / General Manager Position Overview The National Sales Manager is responsible for driving group and corporate revenue for Wylder Windham through proactive sales, account development, relationship management, and new business acquisition. This position will focus heavily on identifying and developing new accounts while maintaining relationships with existing clients, planners, agencies, and partners. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, organized, relationship-driven, and comfortable actively prospecting for new business rather than relying solely on inbound leads. The National Sales Manager will serve as an ambassador for Wylder Windham and the Wylder Hotels brand, positioning the property as a premier Catskills destination for corporate retreats, meetings, social groups, weddings, celebrations, and other group experiences. Key Responsibilities Business Development & Sales Proactively identify and pursue new corporate, group, retreat, wedding, and social business opportunities. Develop new accounts through prospecting, cold outreach, referrals, networking, industry relationships, and market research. Research companies and organizations currently bringing groups into the Catskills and surrounding competitive market. Identify key decision-makers, executive assistants, meeting planners, travel managers, event agencies, and other qualified contacts. Conduct regular outbound sales calls, personalized email outreach, and targeted sales campaigns. Build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective business with consistent follow-up. Develop relationships with corporate accounts, meeting planners, travel advisors, event professionals, wedding planners, and third-party agencies. Represent Wylder Windham at industry events, networking opportunities, trade shows, sales missions, and other relevant events. Conduct competitive site visits and market research to identify new business opportunities and understand market trends. Coordinate strategic gifting, merchandise, and personalized outreach to high-value prospective accounts when appropriate. Account Management Maintain strong relationships with existing accounts while continuously identifying opportunities for repeat and expanded business. Serve as a primary sales contact for assigned accounts from initial inquiry through contracting and turnover to the appropriate operational teams. Maintain regular communication with past clients to generate repeat business and referrals. Conduct account reviews and identify opportunities to increase production from existing clients. Develop account-specific strategies for high-value and high-potential clients. Group Sales & Contracting Respond to qualified leads and RFPs in a timely and professional manner. Prepare proposals, contracts, room blocks, pricing, and other sales materials. Negotiate rates and contract terms while protecting hotel profitability and adhering to established sales guidelines. Ensure all contracts, dates, rates, concessions, room blocks, event details, and client commitments are accurate prior to execution. Maintain clear and detailed account notes so that operational teams have the information necessary to successfully execute each program. Partner with Revenue Management and hotel leadership to determine appropriate pricing and availability for group opportunities. Site Tours & Client Experience Conduct engaging and personalized property tours for prospective clients, planners, and partners. Coordinate and host familiarization trips and client visits. Showcase guest rooms, meeting and event spaces, food & beverage offerings, property amenities, and the overall Wylder experience. Understand each client's objectives and customize presentations and proposals accordingly. Work closely with hotel operations to ensure a seamless transition from sales to execution. Revenue & Performance Meet or exceed established monthly, quarterly, and annual group sales goals. Maintain an active sales pipeline and accurately forecast potential business. Track prospecting activity, conversion, definite business, lost business, and associated revenue. Identify need periods and proactively develop strategies to drive business during those periods. Monitor competitor activity, market demand, group trends, and pricing. Participate in weekly sales strategy, revenue, and leadership meetings as required. Provide regular reporting on sales activity, pipeline development, account production, and booked revenue. Cross-Department Collaboration The National Sales Manager will work closely with Sales, Revenue Management, Front Office, Food & Beverage, Events, Housekeeping, Engineering, and hotel leadership to ensure client expectations are properly communicated and operationally achievable. The position requires strong ownership of booked accounts and clear communication between the client and hotel teams. Qualifications Previous hotel, resort, hospitality, event, or group sales experience is required Proven ability to prospect and develop new business. Strong understanding of corporate groups, meetings, retreats, weddings, and/or social event sales. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building abilities. Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple accounts, leads, deadlines, and priorities simultaneously. Comfortable conducting outbound sales calls and developing relationships with new prospects. Experience with hotel sales, CRM, PMS, or event management systems preferred. Strong understanding of contracts, room blocks, group rates, concessions, and event requirements. Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with hotel leadership and operational teams. Must be available to work occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays based on client visits, events, and business needs. Ability to travel for sales calls, networking events, trade shows, and client meetings as needed. They take ownership of their accounts from prospecting through contracting, communicate clearly with both clients and internal teams, and understand that successful hospitality sales requires a balance of revenue generation, relationship building, attention to detail, and operational awareness . $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
