This role owns the pursuit of new multifamily opportunities—from identifying upcoming developments and opening customer relationships through estimating, proposal development, negotiation, and award. Proactively generating new business is a primary responsibility, supported by a hands-on role in estimating and closing work. You will prepare estimates directly and collaborate with our existing estimating team to manage the multifamily pipeline across flooring and architectural specialties. You will also help shape the additional scopes and services Ascent brings to the multifamily market, working with leadership and operations to support profitable growth. Key Responsibilities Generate new business. Identify and pursue multifamily developers, owners, and general contractors through targeted outreach, cold calling, in-person meetings, networking, and referrals. Find projects early. Track planned developments, identify decision-makers and general contractors, and position Ascent for opportunities before bids are released. Build lasting accounts. Develop relationships that lead to repeat work across customers' projects and portfolios. Estimate and develop proposals. Review drawings and specifications, perform takeoffs, obtain supplier and subcontractor pricing, and prepare complete estimates and proposals. Lead the multifamily pipeline. Coordinate with the estimating team to prioritize pursuits, assign estimating responsibilities, track deadlines, and maintain consistent customer follow-up. Close profitable work. Present proposals, clarify scope, negotiate pricing and terms within company guidelines, and move opportunities through award. Expand our service offering. Recommend new scopes and services based on customer needs and market opportunities, and help evaluate pricing, delivery capabilities, and rollout. Support successful execution. Maintain accurate CRM records and sales forecasts, coordinate clear handoffs to project management, and stay engaged with key customer relationships. Required Qualifications Demonstrated success generating new construction business through proactive prospecting and direct customer outreach. Experience developing relationships with multifamily developers, owners, or general contractors. Hands-on construction estimating experience, including reading drawings and specifications, preparing takeoffs, developing pricing, and defining scope. Experience managing opportunities from initial contact through proposal, negotiation, and award. Strong organization and follow-through, with the ability to manage multiple pursuits and coordinate with estimating and operations. Sound judgment regarding project fit, margins, scope gaps, and customer commitments. Comfort using CRM software, estimating tools, and digital construction documents. Willingness to travel for customer meetings, networking, and project visits. Preferred Qualifications Experience selling and estimating multifamily flooring or Division 10 architectural specialties. Established relationships with multifamily developers and general contractors in Ascent's service markets. Experience pursuing multiple trade scopes on the same project. Experience helping launch new construction services or expand an existing market. Success in This Role Success means building a qualified pipeline through your own outreach, converting opportunities into profitable awarded work, growing repeat customer relationships, and coordinating an organized multifamily pursuit process across our estimating team. About Ascent Ascent Contracting is a growing specialty construction subcontractor providing flooring, concrete polishing and epoxy, and architectural specialties. We help customers coordinate multiple specialty trades through responsive communication, reliable execution, and practical solutions. Our core values—Communication, Accountability, Grit, and All-In—guide how we work with customers and each other.
