Job Description
Clay Insurance is seeking a high-energy Business Development Manager responsible for building and maintaining referral relationships throughout Central Arkansas. This individual will spend the majority of their time outside the office meeting with mortgage professionals, real estate agents, lenders, financial advisors, auto dealerships, apartment communities, home builders, property managers, and other centers of influence to generate qualified insurance referrals. This is not a sales position in the traditional sense. Rather than selling insurance directly, this role is responsible for creating relationships that consistently feed opportunities to our sales team. Success is measured by the number and quality of referral partners developed and the volume of qualified opportunities generated. Primary ResponsibilitiesDevelop New Referral Relationships Prospect new referral partners throughout Arkansas. Schedule and conduct face-to-face meetings daily. Introduce Clay Insurance's referral program. Identify each partner's business needs and develop mutually beneficial relationships. Build trust that results in long-term referral activity. Manage Existing Referral Partners Maintain regular communication with active referral partners. Deliver exceptional follow-up and service. Provide production updates and referral tracking. Resolve issues quickly. Celebrate partner milestones and strengthen relationships. Grow Referral Pipeline Develop referral partnerships with organizations including: Mortgage lenders Mortgage brokers Realtors Home builders Apartment communities Property managers Financial advisors CPAs Attorneys Auto dealerships Commercial bankers Restoration contractors HVAC companies Roofing contractors Local chambers of commerce Networking organizations Employer groups Community organizations Community Representation Represent Clay Insurance at: Chamber events Realtor associations Mortgage networking events Business expos Community festivals Charity events Ribbon cuttings Lunch & learns Educational seminars Become a recognizable ambassador for the Clay Insurance brand. CRM & Reporting Track all meetings and activities in CRM. Maintain referral partner database. Record referrals received. Monitor referral conversion rates. Prepare weekly activity reports. Identify opportunities to increase partner engagement. Success Metrics This role will be evaluated on measurable business outcomes, including: Weekly 20+ face-to-face meetings 50+ outbound relationship touches 5 new qualified referral partners 10 follow-up meetings Monthly 15 new referral partnerships established 100+ qualified insurance referrals generated Growth in active referring partners Referral partner retention Event attendance goals achieved Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is someone who: Loves meeting new people. Builds trust quickly. Is highly organized. Enjoys networking. Is self-motivated. Thrives working independently. Can confidently represent a professional brand. Understands how to develop long-term business relationships. Follows through consistently. Is competitive and goal-oriented. Preferred Qualifications 2+ years in business development, outside sales, banking, mortgage, or relationship management. Strong networking skills. Excellent verbal and written communication. Valid driver's license with reliable transportation. Experience using CRM software is preferred. Insurance experience is helpful but not required. What Success Looks Like Within the first 90 days, this individual will have: Established a consistent weekly networking schedule. Built relationships with at least 40 referral partners. Become a familiar face within the local real estate and lending community. Created a predictable pipeline of referral opportunities for the sales team. Within the first year, this person will become one of the primary drivers of new business growth by creating a referral network that consistently delivers high-quality prospects to Clay Insurance.
