Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Business Development to drive top-of-funnel growth and acquire new customers. This is a true new-business "hunter" role focused on identifying, engaging, and winning new logo customers through outbound prospecting, cold calling, networking, referrals, industry events, and relationship development. The role will work closely with the Vice President of Sales & Marketing and Vice President of Sales & Innovation to transition qualified opportunities into the company's solution design and proposal process. Responsibilities Proactively identify, prospect, and cold call target companies to generate qualified new-business leads outside the existing client base. Build and maintain a strong pipeline of net-new prospects through outbound calling, networking, referrals, industry events, and other self-generated activities. Develop and execute a personal target-account acquisition plan aligned with the company's ideal customer profile and growth strategy. Cultivate relationships with key decision makers at prospective client organizations to understand their supply chain and logistics needs. Represent the company at trade shows, industry associations, and networking events to build brand awareness and generate new-business leads. Qualify inbound and self-generated leads and partner with sales to transition qualified opportunities into the solution design and proposal process. Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations and pitches to prospective clients. Maintain accurate prospecting, pipeline, and forecast information in Salesforce. Generate prospect lists, leverage personal and professional networks, identify target contacts, and provide weekly status updates to senior leadership. Assist with formal responses to RFIs and RFPs for new-business opportunities. Collaborate with sales and marketing to improve marketing materials, prospecting tools, and outreach strategies. Achieve or exceed assigned new-business targets for net-new logos and revenue on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Qualifications Proven experience in business development management with a strong track record of expanding client bases and closing enterprise-level deals. Proficiency in CRM software such as Salesforce or equivalent systems for managing customer relationships and sales pipelines. Excellent skills in sales negotiation, strategic planning, and deal closing with a focus on high-value transactions. Prior experience in supply chain, logistics, transportation, or 3PL is preferred. Demonstrated ability to lead teams effectively while fostering collaboration across departments like marketing, sales, and product development. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite for reporting, presentations, and data analysis. Exceptional communication skills with the ability to engage clients confidently and articulate value propositions clearly. Join us as we drive innovation forward!
