We are seeking a Federal Business Development Manager to help grow Axiom's pipeline and win new work by building relationships, identifying opportunities, and actively pursuing deals across targeted federal agencies. This is a hands-on, outward-facing role for a high-energy seller who enjoys getting in front of customers, networking, and turning conversations into qualified opportunities. You'll collaborate closely with our Growth Team to position Axiom's business operations solutions, IT services and digital transformation capabilities and support capture and proposal efforts through award.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own day-to-day business development activities: prospecting, outreach, discovery calls, and follow-ups to build and maintain a healthy pipeline within targeted federal agencies (e.g., DHA, VA, FDA, USDA, HHS).
- Develop customer relationships and expand Axiom's presence through meetings, networking, and purposeful account engagement.
- Position and communicate Axiom's IT and digital transformation offerings (e.g., cloud, data/analytics, cybersecurity, automation, modernization) in a clear, customer focused way.
- Track market and customer signals (RFIs, forecasts, re-competes, new initiatives) and translate them into actionable pursuit recommendations.
- Support capture activities for priority pursuits by contributing to win themes, competitor insights, customer intel, and teaming partner identification.
- Use Axiom's internal business development tool, "Aspire", to document customer engagement, maintain opportunity records, and ensure disciplined pipeline management.
- Collaborate with proposal and delivery teams to help shape solutions and contribute to timely, competitive submissions.
- Represent Axiom at industry events and professional forums to expand visibility, generate leads, and build partner relationships.
Qualifications:
- 3-6+ years of experience in business development, capture support, account management, or consultative salespreferably in federal contracting.
- Demonstrated ability to prospect, build relationships, and drive opportunities forward in a structured, metrics-driven way.
- Technology-savvy and eager to learn; comfortable selling and talking through IT and digital transformation concepts with customers and partners.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate customer needs into clear solution positioning.
