The National Sales Director will oversee the US sales team and will manage all sales activities. The main duties involve developing and implementing effective sales strategies to meet or exceed company sales goals. The National Sales Director will oversee the activities and performance of the US sales team by tracking sales goals, setting individual sales targets, and will facilitate the ongoing training of the sales force. The National Sales Director will be responsible for preparing and presenting sales reports to top executives, identifying growth opportunities and market trends, as well as establishing productive and professional relationships with key personnel in assigned customer accounts. Additionally, they will also assist with complex sales negotiations, attend sales meetings and industry events, and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent sales service. This role involves working closely cross functionally with marketing and operations to ensure seamless operation and achievement of sales objectives. Duties and responsibilities for the
National Sales Director:
Develop and implement effective sales strategies for the US Sales team to increase revenue and overall profitability. Manage all sales activities by defining sales and marketing strategies, setting goals and objectives and holding the team accountable. Lead nationwide sales team members to achieve sales targets Develop sales incentive plans for the sales team to drive and influence accountability and behavior. Experienced with penetrating Key Accounts and actively sells our products and services by further developing relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders. Monitor sales quotas and metrics for teams and individuals and tracks performance against expectations, making the necessary course corrections and/or talent upgrades as needed Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual sales forecasts Provide timely and effective solutions aligned with customer needs Liaise with Marketing and Product Development to ensure brand consistency. Stay up to date with new product launches and ensure sales team is trained and aligned on new product offerings. Develop and maintain relationships with key customers and industry influencers Manage sales budget and allocate resources. Develop and execute sales training and guidance to sales personnel to enhance their job performance. Develop in-depth knowledge of the company's product lines, applications and competitive intel to increase market penetration. Implement reporting strategy for weekly sales activities including customer visits and contacts, and travel ensure meaningful quality contacts are made with a focus on outcomes. Must be willing to travel up to 50%. Contribute to strategic planning, direction, and goal setting for the department or function in collaboration with other senior management. Monitors pricing, sales volume, and product mix to ensure that organizational profit targets are met. Knowledge & Skills required for a
National Sales Director:
A bachelor's degree in chemistry or science related field, MBA a plus. At least 10 years of sales experience, including prior sales management experience. Previous experience in product sales within multiple industries preferred. Experience with selling scientific instrumentation preferred. Previous experience with end users, channel partners and Key Accounts is required. A passion for science with an attitude of service. Able to work full time on-site in our Smithfield, RI office Ability to travel 50% to sales team members, for customer visits, and tradeshows.
