Job Description
District Manager - Nothing Bundt Cakes Role Overview The District Manager is a store-based, hands-on leader responsible for overseeing the daily operations, performance, and team development of multiple Nothing Bundt Cakes bakeries within an assigned district. This role is expected to work regularly in bakeries, lead by example, and be fully capable of performing any operational position—including baking, frosting, guest service, and opening/closing procedures—to support teams and ensure operational excellence. Key Responsibilities In-Store Operations & Brand Excellence Maintain a regular in-store presence at assigned bakeries, providing hands-on leadership and real-time support Demonstrate the ability to perform all bakery operational roles, including baking, frosting, decorating, guest service, inventory, and cash handling Step in to cover shifts or operational gaps as needed to support business continuity Ensure strict adherence to Nothing Bundt Cakes brand standards, recipes, food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness Conduct operational audits, store walks, and compliance checks Leadership & Team Development Recruit, coach, develop, and retain Bakery Managers and leadership teams Lead by example through active participation in bakery operations and guest interactions Train managers and teams on operational standards, productivity, and guest service expectations Build bench strength through succession planning and cross-training Financial & Business Performance Drive district-level sales growth, profitability, and labor efficiency Identify operational inefficiencies and implement improvement plans Support execution of local marketing and community engagement initiatives Guest Experience Model and reinforce exceptional guest service standards in-store Monitor guest feedback and reviews; ensure prompt and effective resolution of issues Promote a guest-first culture across all bakery teams Strategic & Cross-Functional Support Serve as the primary operational liaison between bakery teams and ownership/corporate partners Support new bakery openings, remodels, and transitions as needed Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal labor and food safety regulations Required Work Experience 5+ years of multi-unit, hands-on management experience in food service, bakery, retail, or hospitality Demonstrated ability to work in-store and perform all operational bakery functions Proven success leading teams, managing labor, and driving financial results Experience in franchised or brand-driven environments preferred Skills & Competencies Strong hands-on leadership and coaching skills Deep operational knowledge of bakery or food service environments Financial acumen including labor management, food cost control, and P&L analysis Ability to lead from the floor and adapt quickly to changing operational needs Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills Proficiency with POS systems, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office or Google Workspace Flexible schedule with availability for early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required Physical & Travel Requirements Frequent in-store work across multiple bakery locations Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced bakery environment Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and perform repetitive tasks associated with bakery operations Regular travel within the district To find the perfect recipe, you first need the perfect ingredients.
