Job Description
The Director of Entrepreneurial Ecosystem and Community Outreach serves as a liaison to a broad range of external stakeholders on behalf of the faculty, staff and students of GMBS. This role provides an important boundary spanning function, communicating about GMBS programs and activities on the one hand, and bringing back industry, regional, and technological information and insights on the other. This role is expected to actively participate in various communities (e.g,; Silicon Slopes), to make significant contributions to delivering events and workshops, and to connect GMBS faculty, staff, and students to relevant opportunities. Building and maintaining key relationships inside and outside the School is essential to success in this role. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Community Engagement Program Support & Development Work closely with GMBS Associate Deans and Directors to identify and address specific needs, including but not limited to: Advisory Council openings, site visit targets, internship opportunities and guest speaker recruitment Collaborate with faculty and staff to design and deliver innovative workshops, competitions, and experiential learning opportunities that enhance business and entrepreneurial skills. Maintain relationships with entrepreneurship centers at our higher education partners to provide innovative SLCC students with resources and pathways to complete their degrees and provide opportunities for further education at four-year universities. Collaboration and Teamwork Incorporate objectives of other SLCC Schools where possible, to amplify impact. Collaborate with Institutional Marketing and GMBS Communications to highlight relevant stories, relationships and opportunities Work with Faculty and Staff to incorporate methods/skills/ideas important to our HE partners and to industry employers into courses, programs, and extra-curricular activities. Other duties as assigned. Skills & Competencies Excellent ability to engage diverse stakeholders and build strong relationships. Skilled at inspiring and motivating students from varied backgrounds. Strong prioritization, time management and planning abilities. Proven problem-solving skills with a focus on negotiation, innovation and measurable outcomes. Understanding of entrepreneurial ecosystems, innovation practices, and student engagement strategies. Ability to translate observations, suggestions, and concepts into practical learning experiences. Strong professional communication and interpersonal skills Ability to build and maintain relationships and drive growth Demonstrated effectiveness in setting and meeting goals with minimal oversight. Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College. Ability to work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities. Bachelor's degree in business administration, entrepreneurship, or a related field required. Four (4) to seven (7) years of direct experience: In representing, funding, founding, and/or managing business or entrepreneurial ventures. As a recognized subject matter expert or advisor in early- stage or growth-focused businesses. Strong connections to local and regional business and entrepreneurial communities and leaders. Credible experience in at least 2 of the following areas: entrepreneurship, business development, leadership, skills development, complex project management. Master's degree in business administration, entrepreneurship, or a related field required. Public persona as evidenced by speaking invitations, conference presentations, awards, social media presence, etc. At least 5 years of direct experience in funding, founding, and/or managing business or entrepreneurial ventures in alliances or collaborative structures. Relationships with local and regional business and entrepreneurial communities and leaders. Credible experience in 4 of the following areas: entrepreneurship, business development, leadership, skills development, complex project management. Strong professional communication and interpersonal skills
