Job Summary:

The Cashier provides excellent customer service while processing transactions quickly and accurately. This role is ideal for someone with at least 2 years of experience in retail or food service, who is confident in upselling meat products and related items. The cashier is also expected to be knowledgeable about various cuts of meat and maintain a clean, well-organized checkout area.

Key Responsibilities:

Welcome customers warmly and assist them with purchases in a courteous and professional manner Operate a point-of-sale (POS) system to ring up sales, process payments (cash, credit, EBT), and issue receipts Use product knowledge and customer interaction to upsell premium meat cuts, marinated options, and in-store promotions Weigh, label, and package meats as needed Answer customer questions regarding meat types, pricing, and specials Maintain cleanliness and organization of the checkout area Communicate with butchers regarding special orders or product availability Handle returns or customer issues with professionalism and care Follow all store policies and food safety regulations

Qualifications:

Minimum 2 years of experience as a cashier in a retail, grocery, or meat market setting Proven ability to upsell or cross-sell products in a customer-focused environment Strong knowledge of meat cuts or willingness to learn quickly Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs. Bilingual (Spanish/English) is preffered Food handler's card/certification may be required, depending on location
