Café located within a county government facility Position Summary We are seeking a reliable and customer-focused Café Cashier to process purchases accurately and create a welcoming experience for café customers. The Cashier will operate the point-of-sale system, handle multiple payment types, maintain an orderly checkout area, and assist with light food-service duties when needed. Because this position is customer-facing and involves financial transactions, the successful candidate must demonstrate professionalism, accuracy, integrity, and strong attention to detail. Key Responsibilities Welcome customers and provide efficient, professional service. Enter orders and process cash, credit card, and other approved payments accurately. Issue receipts and provide correct change. Maintain accountability for the assigned register and cash drawer. Follow established procedures for discounts, voids, refunds, and transaction corrections. Reconcile the register and prepare end-of-shift records as directed. Answer basic questions about menu items, pricing, ingredients, and daily specials. Communicate orders clearly to food-service team members. Maintain a clean, stocked, and organized checkout area. Replenish grab-and-go items, beverages, utensils, and condiments. Assist with packaging orders and light food-service duties during busy periods. Follow applicable food-safety, sanitation, and customer-service standards. Immediately report transaction discrepancies or equipment issues to the Café Manager. Assist with opening and closing procedures. Perform other reasonable café duties as assigned. Qualifications Previous cashier, retail, café, restaurant, or customer-service experience preferred. Experience using a point-of-sale system is helpful. Strong basic math, communication, and customer-service skills. Ability to process transactions quickly and accurately. Demonstrated honesty, dependability, and attention to detail. Ability to remain calm and courteous during busy service periods. Ability to work cooperatively within a small team. Food-handler certification preferred; candidate must obtain any certification required by applicable regulations. Must be able to satisfy any facility-access or background-screening requirements. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to reach, bend, and perform repetitive register tasks. Ability to safely lift and carry up to 25 pounds. Ability to assist with light stocking and cleaning duties.
