Description Cashier II manages incoming traffic and processes payments for all Chatham County Probate Court services. The successful candidate should be personable, efficient, and capable of multitasking while focusing on details and remaining calm in stressful situations. If this sounds like you, consider applying. Examples of Duties Receive and account for payments. Verify receipts with related documents, explain billing procedures to customers, prepare and research billing statements, research collections information, and update automated records. Receive monies by mail or in person, verify payments against records maintained within the office, verify that account numbers are on checks, prepare required tabulations, and prepare bank deposits. Make change and issue receipts for monies accepted, inspect for counterfeit, foreign, or damaged currency, inspect checks for the proper amount, date, signature, and endorsement and classify receipts and validate documents. Read totals for the computer and balance with money in the register and/or vault, maintain records of all transactions, receipts, and disbursements, and furnish input for the daily cashier's report. Prepare statements for billing, research collections, and related information and assist in preparing account records, reports, and special projects. Interact with applicants for weapons carry and marriage licenses, obtain information, review applications, enter data, and review records. Utilize your communication and customer service skills in carrying out duties. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED, and At least two (2) years of cashiering or related experience; or Any equivalent combination of training and experience. Must be able to count money quickly and accurately and tabulate receipts. Must have experience with general office procedures, equipment, and practices. Selected candidates will be required to complete clerical testing during the interview process.
