Job Description

AKIRA Head Cashier (Full-Time) In 2002, AKIRA opened the doors to its first women's clothing boutique in Chicago. Since then, the company has extended its reach to 40+ stores across the United States, as well as a thriving eCommerce business (shopAKIRA.com). Position:
Head Cashier Job Overview:
As a Head Cashier at AKIRA, you're more than just a point-of-sale expert-you're the final touch in delivering an unforgettable shopping experience. You'll wear many hats, supervising and setting the tone of the cashier and tasker team, supporting our sales team, managing fitting rooms, organizing the floor, and ensuring customers leave with a smile. Your attention to detail, speed, and service mindset will help drive sales and maintain a seamless in-store environment. Key Responsibilities Sales Floor & Operational Support Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the store Keep fitting rooms tidy and available for customers Process and return merchandise from try-on sessions back to the floor Assist with putting out new inventory and replenishments Support stylists by pulling product and helping manage customer needs Complete operational tasks as assigned by store leadership Ensure all assigned duties are finished before clocking out Maintain the cashwrap and accessory area Keep a well-organized and stocked area, as well as order supplies in a timely manner Participate in markdowns and operations checklists Cash Register Duties Deliver fast, friendly, and accurate checkout experiences Collect customer information for AKIRA's loyalty program (name, phone, birthday) Suggest last-minute add-ons to maximize sales at checkout Operate the register in accordance with all company policies and procedures Follow all payment, pricing, discount, and return protocols Address customer questions, feedback, or concerns professionally Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked register station Set an excellent example, deliver feedback, and offer motivation to team members Handle escalated customer needs, including online orders, exchanges, and item look-ups Maintain damages and no tags Participate in training and interviews for the cashier tasker team What We're Looking For Excellent cash-handling skills and attention to detail Friendly and service-focused with strong interpersonal skills Honest, dependable, and team-oriented Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment Capable of lifting and organizing merchandise and shipments Conflict resolution skills High energy and polished presentation Ability to deliver feedback and support to team members
Physical Requirements:
Move product, supplies, and/or boxes repetitively; ability to push, pull, and lift a maximum of 50 lbs. based on the needs of the role Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time, including a 10-12 hour shift
