Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Make a difference by supporting students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in the Schaumburg, IL area. This contract opportunity allows you to play a key role in adapting curriculum, collaborating with staff, and promoting inclusive learning experiences. Through your expertise and compassion, you'll empower students with visual impairments to succeed academically and confidently navigate their educational journey.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Licensed or certified as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) according to state requirements Experience working with children and adolescents who are visually impaired or blind Strong knowledge of Braille instruction and assistive technology Familiarity with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and related special education documentation Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills Ability to provide direct and consultative services across different grade levels
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver specialized instruction in Braille, orientation & mobility, and adaptive technology tailored to individual student needs Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, classroom teachers, and families to develop and maintain effective IEPs Assess and monitor student progress to adapt strategies and interventions as needed Provide consultative support to educational staff regarding best practices for visual impairments and classroom accommodations Create accessible learning materials and modify curriculum to foster student independence Promote self-advocacy and skill development for students with visual impairments This position offers a rewarding blend of challenge and impact, welcoming those committed to the growth and confidence of every learner.
